The Largest Shipwrecked Treasure Haul In History Is Underway

A British firm is embarking on what could be the largest recovery of sunken treasure in history.

The Britannia Gold Company has spent 25 years and millions of dollars researching and piecing together parts of a puzzle that could finally result in the recovery of an estimated $125 billion dollars worth of gold and silver.

Insurance and shipping records were scoured by companies established during war times that were facilitating payments made by the government at the time. Even old testaments left in a will by a long dead British chancellor were used to solve the mystery to the location of the precious contents.

The cargo was on ships headed to British and American ports as partial payment for war time efforts. During this time hundreds of transport vessels were sunk by German u boats. The locations are being kept secret as there's obviously much risk with such a large haul of precious metals possibly being recovered. Anonymity is also required to stop pirating of the locations before the recovery team can reach its destinations. It's said that there is a couple locations in the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

The firm hopes to raise some 2000 tonnes of cargo and ship it back to European shores, where it will then have to negotiate its cut from the British government who would be the legal owner. The agency tasked with dealing with any treasure found belonging to Great Britain is titled, the "Receiver of Wrecks Department."

State of the art equipment is being utilized such as unmanned submarines and drones set with coordinates researches believe are the locales of the sunken ships. Staff are expected to carry out analysis of data while at sea and work at depths of up to 5500 meters under the water.

The company has raised enough capital to pay for the first couple of salvage missions and expects to pay for the rest with the proceeds of the first hauls. If they are able to retrieve as much as believed this will easily be the largest value of recovered treasure in history.

While many details are being kept private the firm said they are set to embark in the next couple of days.
