In "The Matrix" films, the green lines of falling code were created from sushi recipes. To make the code, a visual effects artist started by scanning the caracters from his wife's Japanese cookbook.
Pretty cool, actually never knew that one. Always liked the first movie. I really didn't care for the cinematic abortions that they called "sequels".
