Bossel made his conclusions: The majestic, terrible and terrifying phenomena considered Bossel to suppress the thought of man and make him incapable of scientific activity. The mighty nature intensifies its imagination and increases its superstition. So the southern peoples are people with monstrous and terrible images in their minds, people of their imagination, superstitions, the pursuit of the past.

They can not create independent science. On the other hand, the nature of natural phenomena in Europe makes Europeans quite different. In Europe, Bossel says natural phenomena restrict imagination, give courage to reason, and instil confidence in man's own forces, which stimulates the development of scientific knowledge. Bossel states that the spiritual factor in Europe once stimulated by the natural forces becomes a major driving force of civilization, so the study of the laws of European history turns to study the laws of the development of the human spirit.

As for the history of the southern peoples there, she considers Bossel , we have to start from the study of the outer nature. In fact, some representatives of the 19th-century sociological thought have raised the hydrosphere as a major factor in development. For example, Lev Mechnikov, in his famous book, "Civilization and the Big Historic Rivers," says that the development of humanity lies in the direct influence of the water basins, he divided his story into three periods:

  • river period: four great cultures (Egyptian, Mesopotamian / Sumerian), Indian and Chinese / are emerging. These cultures appear around large rivers: Yng, Gang, Nile .... The history of these crops is parallel or synchronous (4000 BC)
  • seaside: two epochs - the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Greeks and the Romans and the second era: Venice and Genoa. Sporse of development in this period gives the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Within its boundaries new economic forms and relations are established.

Oceanic period: with the discovery of the new world by Columbus. Mankind enters the era of oceanic civilizations.Business life comes alive with new markets and new sources of raw materials. Developments as if they are globalizing. The influence of the hydrosphere also draws Hegel's attention in his "Philosophy of History" by focusing on the history of the Phoenician, and he argues that the main reason for his rapid development is the fact that he was on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Thanks to this, the Phoenicians first traveled with their African ships, discovered the Atlantic and reached Britain and the shores of the Baltic Sea from where they carried tin and amber. But the Mediterranean and the shipping and commerce developed in and out of it also led to another very substantial result.
