Life and creativity of Honore de Balzac / part 4/

in #godflesh6 years ago (edited)

Over the years, Balzac was becoming more and more addicted to the reproduction of all subterranean tendencies that appear to be evident in the social life unfolding around him. In the early 1930s, the first novel-scenes of life in the province appeared. In 1833, the novel "The Curse of Tours" appeared, and the following year came the "Eugenie Grandet" and "Illustre Gaudissart", belonging to the above- up part of "Human Comedy". Balzak is writing faster and more and more often. Between his separate novels a remarkable thematic and technological relationship is established. In 1833, he decided that it was appropriate to draw fruitful summaries of the "return to the characters", in whose fate he had entered as the author of his already published novels. This is how the "genius", according to Balzac, is born - an idea to recreate the modern world in a comprehensive fresco by demonstrating the unity emerging under its diversity. In the novel " Pere Goriot", Balzac first applied the "returning author to a familiar circle of characters".

Meanwhile, at the time when his relationship with Mrs Hanska (he met with her in 1834 in Geneva, and in 1835 she was seen in Vienna), Balzac continued to meet Countess Visconti. Captivated by the ambition of "turning a dash", the established writer buys the newspaper "Chronicle of Paris". Balzac continually writes in an exhausting rhythm that exhausts his powers and he gets sick. After publishing the novel Lilies in the Valley in 1836, the devoted literary worker became the victim of a severe psychic collapse. The year turns out to be unsatisfactory for him: as he travels through Italy, Balzac receives the news of the death of Mrs de Bernie, the beloved of his teenage years, which he mentions in his intimate confessions "Dilecta." Balzac's newspaper "Chronicle of Paris" goes bankrupt and its owner has to challenge in the heavy litigation brought against him. At the end of 1836, Balzac embarked on a new, simultaneously journalistic and literary experiment.

He published the twelve chapters of his novel "La Vieille Fille" in the Paris Press newspaper La Presse. So he sets up the novels (a novella) and proves to be ready to take part in all the fashion innovations of his era. For the rest of his life, this inexhaustible creative artist lives with the deserved self-confidence of a writer, journalist, and publisher. The birth of the "novel in the sublime", a modern invention for a reader with increased claims, coincides with the invention of a new genre variety that legitimizes the author of "Human Comedy" - the novel in the Balzac Manner. Her dignities are shielded in a brilliant way in one of the intransigent creations of this novelist - Lost Illusions. In it he recreates the trials he has undergone in order to gain the status of: the omnipotence of the periodic seal and the decisive role of public opinion with which all literary workers are compelled to conform. The process of transforming literature into industry and commerce has been followed. Ideas are found to be commodities that trade in intellect products is a common practice in the context of the open-minded private initiative society. The creative process and the publication of the novel Lost Illusions spread over a period of nearly seven years. This suggests that the "dynamics of production" of novelist Balzac began to decline.
