This is a contest by @girlsfoundation which is a nongovernmental project based on the blockchain that helps to educate, inspire and educate the female sex so that they can become better people and also live better lives. The charitable ideology behind this foundation makes me think of it as a “glimmer of hope foundation”.

Contest topic: A review of A Dollar A Day and its impact on the steemit blockchain.

A Dollar A Day is a life changing initiative on the blockchain which was started by @pennsif in November, 2017. He was later joined in his charitable endaveour in no particular order by @gmuxx, @hopehuggs and @mother2chicks. The logo for this initiative was created by @hungryhustle.

When I first heard about the name of the community, it reminded me of one of the most popular idioms which is, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” because both of them end with doing something a day, then after a close scrutiny of their activities on the steem blockchain, I discovered that that is not just where their similarities end.

An apple is a fruit that performs a lot of things in the body, and taking it daily would have a positive effect on the body. Just like it, A Dollar A Day is a charitable giving project on the blockchain which receives the donation of A Dollar daily from different steemians, but then, a lot of steemians who appreciate their impact on the blockchain give more so that they would be able to reach out to more charitable organisations on the steem it blockchain.

HOW THEY GET THEIR DONATIONS
Even though officially, steemians are meant to be giving out a dollar per day, A Dollar A Day also receives donations of more than one SBD, steem, through delegation of steem power by some steemians, they receive donations from witnesses who become supporters from the project, an example is @drakos who delegated 1000sp to them in August, through those that follow their citation trail and those that upvotes their posts.

WHAT THEY DO WITH THE DONATIONS THEY GET
A Dollar A Day gives outt the accumulation of what they get monthly to different organisations on the blockchain.
A lot of steemians who appreciate their contribution to the steem it blockchain keep delegating steempower to them and also keeps contributing more. To illustrate this point, a study shows that the increase of the donation they had in August is 507SBD which is 17% increase from what they got in July.

An increase in this donation has led to the increase in the numbet of projects that A Dollar A Day supports, and currently, they give out to 15 organisations in 9 countries in the world which includes: Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa, Bangladesh, Spain, USA, Vanezuela, Philippines and Cameroon.

A Dollar A Day keeps changing and impacting many lives on steemit. Based on the comments that the communities they help give on their blog, I discovered that it is indeed a lifechanging project which has changed and impacted many lives through their noble acts. Indeed, without their support on the blockchain, most of the charitable organisations they are helping would not have gone far. This would be illustrated using two out of the organisations they have been supporting below.

  • @girlsfoundation (Nigeria)
A lot of young ladies in Nigeria have dreams, but because some restrictions, one of which is lack of financial backing, their dreams die and they end up living a life that they did not envision for themselves.

Also, Nigeria is a patriarchal country where men have the final say. As a result of that, some of them go ahead to lambaste, despise, dehumanise, debase and disenfranchise the female sex with the hope that they would get away from it.

But @girlsfoundation which @faetee started in June believe that children, INCLUDING girls are leaders of tomorrow, who would grow up to become women one day, so in the bid to inspire and encourage them to improve and live better without oppression, they support the female sex by visiting them in their schools to enlighten them, and they also visit orphanages to present foodstuff and other necessary things they would need such as tissue papers and soap.

Financially, doing this huge project all by herself (@faetee) and her crew would be a difficult task, but thanks to the donations given to them by A Dollar A Day (which is over 100 SBD so far) they have been able to reach out to many young children.

In fact, this contest which is about them done in order to give back to them for their support.

  • Schoolforsdg4 ( Bangladesh)
There are many parents in Bangladesh who can’t afford to feed well, not to talk of providing quality education for their children.

@azizbd founded the schoolforsdg4 over two years ago to help sponsor children who are less privileged financially to go to school. He does not only stop at that. He also empower their mothers so that they can be able to take care of their family. He does this by empowering them for them to have a skill, rather than just depend on their academic knowledge (or the lack of it).

Now, the women are being taught how to sew, and it is hoped that the money gotten from the products the make would go a long way in elevating them from poverty.

All these are a huge responsibly, but many thanks to A Dollar A Day as they have gone a long way in helping out. So far, they have contributed over 200SBD for the Schoolforsdg4, and over 100SBD for their women empowerment.

Here are other steemit projects which have received help from them. They are:
Cameroon

Philippines

South Africa

Spain

USA

Venezuela

Worldwide

A Dollar A Day in total has helped all these projects on the steem it blockchain to impact positively on education, women empowerment, environmental transformation, family care and even animal protection.

It should be noted that in the means to empower and sponsor many people, while letting them know about how they get their funds, Steemit would be mentioned, and that is a way to spread the good news of steemit around. I am sure through this initiative, a lot of steemians have emerged.

They don't restrict their help to only charitable organisations on the blockchain. They also help the well meaning steemians who give donations by placing them on autovote, an action which is to appreciate them for their help to the project.

A Dollar A Day has been key in keeping @tarc operational for the past year. I can’t say enough good things about this initiative.
