Today was splendid and well spent at the UWA(University of Uyo Women Association) National Conference held at Governor's Annex, Uyo, AkwaIbom State.

Theme : University Women in Nation Building : From the home to the front line!

Women's education no more in the kitchen!
Women's education no more in the other room!

The conference had alot of special guests;

• The Wife of the Governor Deaconness Martha Udom well represented.
• The vice chancellor well represented.
• The wife of the Vice Chancellor Mrs Roseline Essien.
• The Head of Civil service.
• Some special guests from other states.
• The immediate past president of the national association of Accounting students of Nigeria.
• Deans of Faculties, prestigious lecturers and staff of the great university of Uyo, the Vice President SUG, respectable and reputable students and my humble self representing my faculty!

Her Excellency RT Hon. Nkoyo Toyo
This beautiful and highly intellectually inclined woman was the key note speaker and she gave an amazing speech on being in the front line and showcasing good attributes at the front line.

'If we are moving to the front line are we moving there to reinforce or stand for nothing?'
Women Whether in social, political and economic areas are very vibrant and affected by gender inequality, so women should be liberated and allowed to take vital roles that the society had subjected them not to.
Women should not only support nation Building but also support the individual accomplishment of one another.

According to her, persistent wearing of uniform makes your thoughts uniformized. You always ride along with others instead of you to stand out.

We live in a conservative environment and conservatism is working against the environment... leading to a very huge problem.

Furthermore, the Wife of the Vice Chancellor used the privilege to introduce and launch her book.

Advice to the women!

Being a woman in the first place is being a human and recognizing the complexity that comes with it.
Fear your fear with a mild fear because every fear has a fear!
You have to define your womanhood, no-one will do that for you. Women are the architects of a society and a woman should be two things; who she is and what she wants but culture has made that almost impossible in some places.

It was a beautiful event and we had the best knowledge and motivation to pursue our goals as women and stand to build the nation.
