Brief Introduction

Girls Foundation is an initiative of @faetee; a promoter of Steemit that has touched many lives positively online and offline. The non-government project aims to enlighten and educate youths about the morals and norms of life to become better and act proper. Not only that, the foundation will expose girl-children to Steemit and how to be independent. @girlsfoundation joined Steemit officially May, 2018 and have accomplished many feats since then. You can read their introduction post here.

The first outing was on the 13th of June to New-era School which involved lectures to the girls, questions and answers session where gifts were given to the winners of the session followed by pictures taken by the team and the students. On the 2nd of July, the team visited Lemu Orphanage home in Port Harcourt to give out food items and provisions to the children in the home and also shared interesting stories with them.

On the 19th of July, the team visited a school on their graduation day to share gifts to the best graduating students and lecture them about @girlsfoundation and her vision to the delight of the school. A total of 50 customized notebooks and mathematical sets were distributed. Recently, they distributed customized note books around University of Port Harcourt.

It is obvious that @girlsfoundation have been doing a great job from the support they have gotten in recent times and the extension to Ghana thanks to @mcsamm, @ackza and @surfyogi.

A review of @girlsfoundation visit to Lemu Orphanage Home.

I can recall the first time I visited an orphanage home, the warm reception of the kids melted my heart so much, I vowed to always go back whenever I can.

One of the visions of @girlsfoundation is to enlighten and educate youths and children. According to the founder; @faetee:

It has always been my dream to visit an Orphanage home and spend time with the kids there.

This is definitely why the team visited Lemu Orphanage Home, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria on the 2nd of July, 2018.

The heartily reception of the children gave the team goosebumps. They welcomed them with song and prayers.

Even though they are less- privileged, they still believe in the power of prayers.

The owners of the home were pleased to see the team so they spoke briefly before they presented them and the children with food items and provisions:

  • Noodles
  • Tomato Paste
  • Groundnut Oil
  • Beverages
  • Happy Hour juice
  • Detergent and
  • Tissue paper.

The children and the owners were excited to receive the gifts, their hearts will forever bless @faetee and her team.

To make the visit entertaining and educating, @faetee narrated two stories to the kids namely The honest wood cutter and The little Cat. The children paid attention when she did which was why they could share with the team the lessons they learnt from the stories.

Video of @faetee narrating The honest wood cutter Story to the kids.

After the story session, pictures were taken by the team and the children. The smile on the children's faces were obvious in the pictures. Thanks to the team for touching the lives of these children. Apart from the knowledge the home has imparted on them, the lessons learned from the stories and the humility and generosity displayed by the team will influence them positively.

Conclusion

From the review, it is evident that @girlsfoundation is gradually fulfilling his vision. They have displayed generosity and humility which should be inbibed by others. To continue, they have also shown transparency and honesty to show their finances with nothing to hide. I call on others to show support to @girlsfoundation to totally achieve their goals. Good luck to @faetee and her team.
