Humanity has been on this planet for quite a while, and for a long period we have been wondering for how long our globe has been in existence and how it came to be. This makes that there have been a variety of hypotheses on the matter. Here we see a development on the ideas on the age of the Earth.

People have always known that the Earth must be incredibly old. But how old exactly had been a debate lasting centuries. Over the course of history, multiple attempts have been made to correctly estimate the exact age of our planet. Today the field of provides us with a powerful tool to date the age of rocks, but earlier in history different approaches have been made.

History: Pictures I took of the historic Minnesota River Valley.

I really like the concept of photography and a story because it brings scientific and historical topics in an interesting and nice to read manner. Here we get to know more about the history of the Minnesota River Vally through a hike in the area.

I took a little hike on this beautiful afternoon by the Minnesota River just outside Shakopee, MN where I decided to take a few pictures. The Minnesota River valley was seeing a major influx of settlers from the east taking advantage of the Homestead Act. The American government implemented treaties so the settlers would not be interfered by the natives, but the treaties were always broken. What later ensued was the Dakota/Sioux Uprising, where the Dakota and Sioux tribes went to war with the US. During that time the Civil War was in full swing. The sitting governor of Minnesota, Alexander Ramsey, help back two regiments of the Minnesota Militia from the fighting the Confederates ...
