Classification or division of Himalaya according to Sir Sidney Burrard.

As you all know Himalaya is one the most famous mountain range. Highest of the highest peak on the earth is also in Himalayan range. Even the mount Everest is also situated in this range. The Himalaya is classified and divide by many ways by many researcher and geologist. One of the most famous divisions and classification style are given by Sir Sidney Burrard.

According to Sydney Burrard, Himalaya is divided or classified into four parts. The most interesting thing is that he divided this on the basis of the river. I will show you with the help of the map. The four parts are-

• Kashmir or Punjab Himalaya
• Kumaon Himalaya
• Nepal Himalaya
• Assam Himalaya

Kashmir or Punjab Himalaya-

This is range situated between two rivers name, Indus, and Satlaj.

Kumaon Himalaya-

The area situated between Satlaj and Kali river.

Nepal Himalaya-

The area which is between Kali River and Teesta River.

Assam Himalaya-

This starts form Teesta river and ends with Brahmaputra River.
