Para disfrutar de las labores que realizamos a diario, debemos romper ese cerco del horario bajo techo y salir al aire libre, de esa manera se puede intercalar el trabajo diario con el aprendizaje practico y despegarse un poco de la rutina, resultando esa forma un cambio positivo.
In order to enjoy the work we do every day, we must break the siege of the indoor timetable and go outdoors, in this way we can intersperse the daily work with the practical learning and get away from the routine a little bit, resulting in a positive change.
If we add to this the purpose of establishing new days or projects beneficial to nature, which at the same time act as an incentive for the training of the new generation of professionals, through the implementation of field practices where they carry out the implementation of what they learn in the classroom, inspections where they can verify the preservation of species in closed season, research work on biodiversity or others. Then we will be setting new standards and making a difference with new work in contact with the environment.
As living beings we must try to know everything that surrounds us, especially if our aim is to work for the preservation and better management of nature, teaching children or adults alike, in such a way as to raise their awareness and make them understand that the preservation of species of flora or fauna benefits us all equally and if this message reaches the soul of these people will achieve a good progress and new allies who will place their grain of sand in the crusade of environmental preservation.

Con quien ejecuto labores en la actualidad como funcionarios del MiNEA (Antiguo Ministerio del Ambiente), aprovechando cualquier eventualidad donde se puedan ejecutar nuevos trabajos que ayuden a aumentar los vínculos con la naturaleza y aprender más de ella. En esta frecuencia de buenas vibras, en contacto con la naturaleza y ejerciendo la profesión al aire libre, fui a visitar la Unid de producción PERCARICO, ubicada en el Caserío Miranda, a 5min de Carora, Municipio Torres, Estado Lara. Cuya gran particularidad del sitio es el éxito en la regeneración de vegetación en la Zona Semiarida.
With whom I am currently working as an official of the MiNEA (Former Ministry of the Environment), taking advantage of any eventuality where new work can be carried out to help increase links with nature and learn more about it. In this frequency of good vibes, in contact with nature and practicing my profession outdoors, I went to visit the PERCARICO production unit, located in Caserío Miranda, 5 minutes from Carora, Torres Municipality, Lara State. The great particularity of the site is the success in the regeneration of vegetation in the Semi-Arid Zone.
El Ingeniero Forestal Oscar Pernalete propietario del sector quien gustoso se ofrece a ayudar a las personas a implementar su metodología para la recuperación de los alrededores, así como otras zonas del municipio. Tiene una curiosa rutina al llegar al sector realiza un recorrido por los diferentes comederos y bebederos donde deja agua y comida, para las aves e iguanas, que se comienzan a acercar a los distintos puntos al poco tiempo de haberlos surtido. Pudiendo así observar desde la primera hora aves como el turpial, turcas y loros, alimentándose directamente de los comederos.
Forest Engineer Oscar Pernalete, owner of the sector, is happy to help people implement his methodology for the recovery of the surrounding area, as well as other areas of the municipality. It has a curious routine when it arrives to the sector it makes a route by the different feeders and drinking troughs where it leaves water and food, for the birds and iguanas, that begin to approach the different points shortly after having supplied them. From the first hour you can observe birds such as the turpial, Turkish and parrots, feeding directly from the feeding troughs.
Generalmente a los habitantes de las zonas urbanas no les llama mucho la atención la zona semiárida (por debajo de los 800m.s.n.m y precipitación <450mm/año) pero estos territorios tienen una mágica característica, son irrigados por ríos con gran caudal, otra es que durante los periodos de lluvia se puede cosechar gran cantidad de agua que puede concentrarse en pequeñas represas y lagunas, que pueden favorecer la producción agropecuaria.
Generally, the inhabitants of urban areas are not very interested in the semi-arid zone (below 800 m.a.s.l. and rainfall <450 mm/year), but these territories have a magical characteristic, they are irrigated by rivers with great flow, another is that during rainy periods a large amount of water can be harvested which can be concentrated in small dams and lagoons, which can favour agricultural production.
Otra errónea calificación que regularmente se le da a la zona semiárida, es considerársele una zona desprovista y poco productiva, pero esto no es más que un error, ya que, si le damos un buen manejo al sector afectado con un cuidado sistemático, la zona se puede recuperar a mediano plazo (entre 5 y 10 años). Siendo este el caso que voy a presentarles.

El hermoso espacio de la Unidad de Producción PERCARICO, es un oasis de 4Ha donde se ubica una pequeña reserva protectora, a una altura promedio. de 450 m.s.n.m., donde se han implementado técnicas agroforestales en el territorio semiárido. The beautiful space of the PERCARICO Production Unit is a 4Ha oasis where a small protective reserve is located, at an average height. of 450 m.a.s.l., where agroforestry techniques have been implemented in the semi-arid territory. Se realizaron diferentes divisiones por curvas de nivel con sus respectivas zanjas de infiltración para conducir el agua proveniente de la precipitación para la irrigación de las diferentes especies forestales plantadas como el Curarí, la Vera, el Palo de Arco y el Araguan. Luego de la adaptación los árboles al medio, entre las distintas especies que han logrado continuar con su crecimiento, se pueden observar arboles jóvenes (1 o 2 años), intermedios entre los (3 a 7años) y arboles con edad superior a los 8años.

Construcción de diques para la reconducir pate del agua de la Microcuenca con el resultado de la recuperación de los suelos desprovistos de recuperación de vegetación baja y de árboles en la ribera de las quebradas.

Se ha producido la recuperación de la materia orgánica del suelo, se puede observar que el aumento de vegetación ha influido positivamente evitando el lavado de material fino durante el periodo de precipitaciones. En distintos puntos del predio tanto en la zona baja como en la zona alta se ha logrado producir la presencia de humus.

En el sector se ha ido implementando la siembra progresiva de Agave cocuy, algunos de cuyos ejemplares muestran un progresivo y avanzado crecimiento, al estar en ciertas horas del día bajo la sombra de los arboles forestales, a estos se les permite culminar su época de reproducción de los cuales se obtienen los bicuyes para la preparación de encurtidos y el famoso licor artesanal Cocuy clarito.
In the sector the progressive sowing of Agave cocuy has been implemented, some of whose specimens show a progressive and advanced growth, to be in certain hours of the day under the shade of the forest trees, to these they are allowed to culminate their epoch of reproduction from which the bicuyes are obtained for the preparation of pickles and the famous artisanal liqueur Cocuy.
A la par de la obtención de bicuyes también se hace la recuperación de las pequeñas plántulas que se producen al caer la flores al suelo, gran parte de estas son recuperadas y trasladadas a viveros de Agave en la zona baja.

La evolutiva recuperación de los suelos y el buen crecimiento de las plantaciones ha repercutido positivamente en la biodiversidad del sector, hay presencia de humus y una buena diversidad de aves presenten en Percarico, luego de un completo recorrido por la Ruta del Semiarido, se logró observar un gran número de aves entre esta el Sangre e’ toro, el turpial, el loro, el cristofué, el turpial y el cardenal coreano. Adornando el lugar con sus vistosos colores y sus alegres cantos.
The evolutionary recovery of the soils and the good growth of the plantations has had a positive impact on the biodiversity of the sector, there is presence of humus and a good diversity of birds present in Percarico, after a complete tour of the Route of the Semiarid, it was possible to observe a large number of birds including the bull's blood (Pyrocephalus rubinus), the turpial, the parrot, the christophe, the turpial and the cardinal(Cardinalis phoeniceus). También se están realizando pruebas pilotos con frutales como el Mamón (Melicoccus bijugatus), Ponsigué (Ziziphus mauritiana), Cotoperíz (Talisia olivaeformis) en la zona baja, otro frutal que ha logrado prosperar y que en la actualidad está dando una gran cosecha es el Semeruco, (Nombre Científico: Malpighia glabra) Estos frutos tienen propiedades medicinales, poseen gran contenido de ácido ascórbico o vitamina C, en cantidad superior a la que poseen los cítricos y consumida en grandes cantidades, tienen propiedades laxantes.

Además, la fruta tiene propiedades antiinflamatorias y diuréticas. Se recomienda un consumo en cantidades muy moderadas para las personas con afecciones renales y gota.

The fruit is used to prepare even small quantities of jellies, compotes and juices.
