Introduction of Genesis Mining

Genesis Mining is an industry leader of cryptocurrency mining hosting services and mining related solutions that was founded at the end of 2013. We offer small and large end users an easy and safe way to purchase hashpower without having to deal with complex hardware and software setup. With now over 2 million users Genesis Mining is the world’s leading multi-algorithm cloud mining service.

The founders of our company got to know each other by using the same platform for buying and selling Bitcoins. As our cryptocurrency mining company and its user base grew, new mining farms were built up and dozens of additional people joined our cause.

The current 50+ members of our blockchain software- and mining team come from different scientific disciplines, but our common faith in cryptocurrencies has brought us all together. We are all strong believers in the future of digital currencies and we love being part of this growing community!

We believe that blockchain technology will improve the world. We want to become a core driver of this technology, enabling everyone to participate.

Vision & Community Outline

We want to contribute to the increasing individual sovereignty of EOS and it’s users while decreasing the social inequality (globally and locally) by tapping the economic, technological, and social potential of EOS and its decentralised, borderless, and efficient nature.

We are primarily doing so by providing and running the nodes required for the ecosystem to exist and thrive. Furthermore, we are striving to make the network and its related service systems more available to everyone. We want to provide people with the means via the technological backbone, so they can participate in the EOS and blockchain community.

ICELAND: ENIGMA DATACENTER

Enigma is one of the largest cryptocurrency mining facilities in the world. First built to exclusively mine Ethereum, the facility is being continuously upgraded for mining state-of-the-art Blockchains. Enigma’s computational performance is achieved with specifically designed Rigs that efficiently mine hashing algorithms for various cryptocurrencies such as Zcash, Dash, Monero and others. The Enigma facility is powered by geothermal energy, and resides in the capital of Iceland.

SWEDEN: THOR DATACENTER

The Thor data center in Sweden is our answer to the massive growth of the mining industry worldwide. It features significant improvements in design and capacity over our previous facilities and represents the latest iteration of our datacenters. A cool climate and plentiful renewable hydro power makes Sweden an extremely attractive and competitive hosting location. We are looking forward to expanding this operation to one of the biggest world wide.

Datacenter Specifications

Our datacenter operations provide a secure and resilient hosting environment in Iceland. The facility has a redundant, high capacity UPS supply and a diesel generator on site for backup. Fully redundant indirect adiabatic air cooling system, configured to a hot aisle/cold aisle design is installed to monitor and control the temperature and prevent overheating.

Security

The site provides a secure operating environment for our equipment. It is subject to strict data management, security and confidentiality requirements and only accessible to authorized personnel. Additionally, all activities are monitored through cameras and our in-house built management software, Genesis Hive, gives us full overview on the devices (soft- and hardware) and their performance.

Connectivity

Situated midway between Europe and the United States, running our servers in Iceland makes it possible to transmit information with low latency to both continents. Producing and propagating blockchain blocks in a reliable matter is of utmost importance to us as a mining business. Our data centers are already equipped with extremely high-bandwidth solutions for the intranets and internet.

Scaling

Due to our long-term experience building and maintaining data centers around the world we will be able to adapt and scale to increasing sizes in the shortest time possible.

Dr. Marco Krohn
Co-Founder
Dr. Krohn is the CFO & Co-Founder of Genesis Mining. Studied physics, mathematics, economics. PhD in mathematical physics. He has held previous a senior structuring quant roles at UniCredit Bank.

Philip Salter
