Silence filled the room as he moved in next to her. He placed the bottle and glasses on the coffee table in front of them. He rested his arm on the back of the couch and faced her. Her heart beagn to race, not sure if it was excitement that he was so close or nerves from the bottle that now haunted her. Savana had only ever gotten drunk once, when her childhood friend Rebeka spent the weekend with her for her twenty-first birthday. Rebeka has always been a party animal and a free spirit so Savana wasn't left with much of a choice as they went bar hopping. She remembered absolutely nothing from that night apart from the fact that Nash helped her to her dorm. She had no idea how he got in the picture though. He sat on her couch that night till she fell asleep and then snuck out since there were no boys allowed in the girls' dorm.
"You drift off again?" he asked as he placed his hand on her shoulder.
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to" his smile was warm and made her feel safe.
"Actually..." She searched his eyes as the flames reflected in them. "A game sounds fun."She smiled " But, uh, what kind of game?"
"Okay so it works like this. We basically quiz each other on how well we know each other"
"Sounds easy. You first"
He stared thoughtfully into the flames "Hmmm" he said "Okay I'll give you an easy one" he stroked his chin and then looked at her. " If I could be with any girl in Blue Waters. Who would it be?"
Savan was caught off guard by the question and froze up for a second.
"Blaze?" She examined his face for an expression but all that she found was his warm smile.
"Nope" he said as he poured her first shot. He handed it to her and then gestured for her to drink. She threw the shot down her thoat and immediately cringed as the sour taste filled her lungs. She slammed the shot glass onto the coffee table and shook her head.
"Ahhh"
Nash laughed as he said "Guess again"
Savan had no idea who to guess next. They lived in a small town but Blue Waters was the best arts college in the country, it was huge and filled with girls she'd seen him talk to.
"Kelly" She blurted out a random name. She didn't even know a Kelly but there had to be at least one in their school.
"Who's Kelly?" he asked confused as he leaned over to pour her another one.
It didn't taste any better the second time and she once again couldn't help but cringe. "I don't know" She replied her face still pulled.
"Okay you get two more guesses. Otherwise we'll probably be here all night. And no made up names"
"One of Blaze's minions"
"Which one?" He raised his eyebrow
"Ashley?"
This time he did not even answer he simply handed her the glass and smiled.
Savana began to feel woozy after the third consecutive shot and her head began to feel as if it were floating. "Amber?"
Shot four went straight to her head and she let out an uncontrolled giggle.
"Okay so I obviously don't know. Is it my turn now?"
"It is indeed" He smiled.
"Okay, umm, if I could live anywhere in the world where would it be?"
Hoping she gave him a difficult one she began to lean over to grab the bottle.
"Alaska" he replied with confidence.
"Darn" She fell back into the couch and sighed. "That's not fair. Your's was not easy"
"I thought it was" His smile lit up his eyes and caused her to smile back.
"Now since I got it right, you need to take another shot."
"What? That was never in the rules" She sat up straight.
"It was, I just forgot to mention it."
"Fine" She grabbed the glass he handed to her and threw the shot down her throat. Holding her nose in the hopes that it would dull the tease. Of course it did not work, and her tongue felt like it was shriveling up.
"Okay, why Alaska?" she asked
"Not fair but I'll answer. Because your grandmother lives there and she's the only relative you actually get along with" He smiled "Now me. What's my favorite movie?"
"See, now that's easy. X-men"
He laughed as he handed her the bottle. "You may have the honours" He said.
She took complete joy out of pouring his first shot. She handed it to him with a large smile on her face. Keeping a close eye on his facial expression as he downed it. He pulled his face slightly but it was barely noticeable. He put the glass on the coffee table and smiled.
"Not the expression you were expecting?"
She shook her head and then regretted it. It felt as though it were going to fall off her shoulders if she shook too hard.
"We can stop" He said as he leaned in to check on her.
"No, no I'm fine."

They played for another hour or so, eventually running out of questions. Savana mostly started blabbering random topics. They laughed at utter nonsense and before long she was wrapped up in his arms. Nash was not nearly as gone as she was so around 2am he decided to make them grilled cheese sandwiches. Savana hijacked the stereo and threw in the first CD she found whose name she couldn't decipher in her current state. She didn't know any of the words to the songs but babbled along anyway as she danced through the house. Every now and then she would pop up in the kitchen and tell him random facts like "Did you know that spiders aren't actually insects?" She would then gasp at her own fact and slam her hands onto her cheeks. He couldn't control his laughter and simply said "I did not" as he put sandwiches into plates and guided her back to the living room. They had moved the coffee table earleir and made a huge bed infront of the fire. He helped her down and then plopped down next to her handing her a slice.
"Thank you" She said in a very bad, very drunk British accent.
"You're welcome" He replied sarcastically in a fake American accent.
"This is delicious" She said as she took her first bite. "I've never tasted anything like it" She took another bite.
"I'm glad you like it" he smiled.
"You're so amazing at everything" She mumbled through another bite.
He laughed and looked at her. He knew that she was far gone. "Thank you"
Her head fell on his shoulder and she snuggled in. "Please sir, may I have some more?" She cupped her hands and placed them in front of him.
"You may" he grabbed another slice to hand to her but her hands had fallen flat.
"Savy?"
"Mmm" She groaned.
Her eyes were refusing to stay open flickering as she tried to force them open. She suddenly felt him move out from under her and help her to lay down. Her head snuggled into the warm cushion. Her eyes opened enough for her to see him getting up.
"Wait" She whispered.
"Whats wrong Savy?" he kneeled down.
"Stay" She patted next to her.
"You're falling asleep."
"Five minutes?"
"Fine" he laid down next to her.
Without thinking she placed her head on his chest and her hand over his waist. She felt his fingers curl into her hair and a chill went down her spine. Weakly she lifted her head to look at him to be greeted with a smile.
"Thank you" She whispered and before she could stop herself she kissed him. Shocked she began pulling away when he suddenly kissed back.
