Gayo Luwes is one of the districts located in the central part of Aceh province. This district is known as one of the best arabica coffee producing regions in the world. The delicious taste of Gayo coffee is unquestionable. Nature thrills Gayo to the world through his coffee. This event is usually held to commemorate the anniversary of NKRI and Gayo Luwes Regency. Horse race match is located on the edge of Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh. This activity became the biggest party for Gayo community. For tourists this activity becomes an interesting tourist attraction while in Central Aceh. These little Gayo jockeys, riding their horses without using plena while on the track. They just hold a rattan in hand to spur the horse to run fast. The horse driven by the little jockeys belongs to his parents or relatives. Horse racing in Gayo Luwes District has been started since the Dutch colonial era. Formerly this event was held to commemorate the birthday of one of Queen queen of the Netherlands, Queen Wihelmina in month between August and September, and also held to welcome rice harvest in both month.
