Around the Farm - September 16, 2019 @goldenoakfarm
Yesterday was a beautiful late summer day, temps in the mid 70’s, blue sky, low humidity. I was sitting on the addition foundation, looking at the barn, and thinking what a pretty sight it was.
Behind me, our signature oak tree was lovely with its vase shape. The tree guy did a good job pruning away the dead and the vines, so now its shape stands out.
In front of me, in the remains of my 1st Fence garden, the New England aster is putting on a brave show. It’s all falling down without the fence support. One of these days I’ll get to fixing that garden, when the construction is more finished in the area.
So many butterflies this year. One would think with all the chaos they’d not find it congenial, but not so.
We got next year’s wood delivered on Saturday, but we needed wood for this year too. Our tree guy agreed to get us 6 cords. He said he’d be here mid week, but showed up at noon on Monday with 2 of the cords in a low trailer.
I raced out and cleaned out the woodshed, which had become a catch-all all summer, and he dumped the first load there.
The second and third loads went into the middle pasture by the fence. My husband can use the tractor to load it into the truck to move it by the woodshed.
The last 4 cords
My son will have his work cut out for him, getting this all stacked in the shed.

That's a view I certainly wouldn't complain about!

Nor us, which is why the house got majorly redesigned mid stream! Losing that view turned out to be a major problem, but now we got it back and are building accordingly.

Thanks!
Not that you need more chores ;0) but the asters can be cut back twice (Mem Day and again as late as 4th July) to keep them from getting too leggy!
Usually they have the fence for support and look lovely against it. But not this year...
