Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden
It is a great day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!
We made a delicious feast for our volunteers today, cooking over fire using our handmade earthen rocket stoves in our sustainable outdoor kitchen! As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you.
We had a beautiful turkey burger feast today!!
It was awesome! We had turkey burgers and all the fixins, fresh salad, sautéed squash, and oven fries!
We started with a gorgeous garden salad. We picked mixed greens and topped them with cucumbers, bell peppers, onions, shiso, and broccoli rabe flowers to make it extra pretty!
For another veggie side dish, we sautéed zucchini with bell peppers, and onion. It was yummy and super nutritious!
For our meat eaters, our main dish was delicious turkey burger patties! We flavored ground turkey with onion, garlic, salt, and pepper and pan seared them until nice crispy brown on both sides.
These were delicious as classic burgers with buns or on top of salad!
We served cucumbers and red onions for dressing up our burgers.
We used toasted whole grain English muffin halves as our buns of choice today.
We served a tray of uber dank pickles.
We offered mustard, mayo, ketchup, and chipotle mayo for condiments.
What an epic spread!
And what's a burger feast without fries?! We had thick cut oven fries with our meal today, and for a lot of us this was the highlight of the meal! We left the skins on for extra nutrition and texture. We cut them thick, tossed them with oil, salt, and pepper, then baked it at a high temperature until they were tender and crispy golden.
It was a wonderful meal shared in great company!
With so many options, everyone could dress their meal to their exact tastes.
We even had a tray of cookies with whipped cream for dessert! Thanks for sharing our feast!
Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!
We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is one of our rocket stoves in action - we built it by hand out of dirt.
