RE: Contest: Looking for Your Garden Layouts - Existing or Planned :: 6 SBD in Prizes

I don't have a picture, but we have four gardens. First is a large, fenced in circular "herb garden" with a sprinkler head 4 feet high in the middle. Here I have peppers (2 kinds), rosemary, spaghetti and Seminole Indian Squash, lemon grass and luffa. It's fenced in and adjoins our outdoor shower. Second, we have a fruit grove of about 25 trees: plum, peach, fig and persimmon and along side it some fenced in areas with sweet potatoes, melons and Seminole Indian squash. Third, we have about 15 figs all about the property and a single pomegranate. The 4th garden is in my green house (made out of 20 sliding glass doors), and right outside it I have turmeric and sun chokes which die off in the winter so I put them on the south side of areas where I need the shade in the summer. Inside the greenhouse I have cilantro, celery, 3 citrus trees, tomatoes and strawberries. Whew! I think that's it. We establish the gardens all around our 14 acre tree farm along our interior roads and around our chick coops and out door kitchen wherever it's convenient. I'm planting 2 luffa's on the side of my chicken coops just to shade them. I'm probably missing a few plants, but we only plant what we eat, and what grows well for our area (in north Florida). (I may sketch it out and upload it later.)

That sounds like quite the setup - I just started the process of filling the property with eddible perennials - sounds like yours is well on the way, it would be nice to see the layout :) I want to start on a large herb spiral later this summer - with the herbs that like dryer conditions higher up on the spiral.
