They are farming all wrong!!!!

By no digging and pulling weeds the plants are incredible. Before it was backbreaking, turning the earth and even some said to double dig. Yikes. Then during the growing season endless weed-pulling. Just awful. And the plants didn't seem very happy. Seriously they were puny and got all sorts of bug and disease problems.

But this..... Just put down leaves/grass clippings. Nutrition automatically provided. No need for fertilizer. No weeds. If some do come just cut them off ... do not pull them out... and cover with more grass clipping and or leaves.
Very easy. Especially since I have lots of trees so lots of leaves and the grass grows all the time. I use an attachment to the lawn mower that bags everything. Very easy and fun. It's a riding mower! Wahoo.

Cut the grass without the attachment since if the cuttings are even slightly wet the chute into the bag will jam up. Just circle around and pile the cuttings into a small mound and let it dry for a day or two.

Then go and vacuum them up with the bagger attachment on.
Just empty the bags and pile up for a few weeks.

I use wood chips too. A small chipper turns the dead branches that fall out of the trees all the time into great mulch.
Here are some photos from this morning. It's raining.

The babies are in the ground now. The sprout is a kohlrabi.
The garden really is breathtaking. Robust and full of life.
