Beautifying New Jersey...ONE yard at a time!steemCreated with Sketch.

You laugh, but we love to say that our motto is "Beautifying New Jersey...ONE yard at a time!" Okay, well we have another motto too which we always announce about a half hour in to a job where we have weeded or pulled out ugly or overgrown plants...

"Hey, it looks better already!"

But the following pictures are from the same property that I posted about last evening (https://steemit.com/gardening/@gardenlady/worked-my-ass-off-the-last-2-days)

If you read that post, you know that as much as we fussed over the shade garden where the client wanted to have a SUN garden, we actually tend to and continue re-create all the gardens. But before there were gardens, the owner completely re-hardscaped the whole property.

The following photos show just a bit of the structure of this property...it really is beautiful:

Here is a low wall that borders the dining terrace. Isn't it adorable? I forget the name of these mini alium, but there is also lavendar and spring bulbs that come up here. Notice in the distance to the right, a stand of trees...

Here is a close-up of that stand of Linden trees with a scrumptious sun-filled bank planted with lavendar, salvia, alium, sedum, and more. And guess who tends to the yew and ilex hedges .....yours truly ;0) (photo taken pre-ilex trimming!)

Hmmm...where does this path lead to? well, no where really altho eventually up to an area we dubbed "the hosta highway"! It is actually situated to the right of the shade/sun garden we installed yesterday (see yesterday's post, link above)

Lovely pool with gardens beyond (unfortunately, I don't have a good photo of the garden beyond- it's newly planted and needs some time to mature. Food for future post) That's Blue Zinger carex lining the arborvitae.

Granite steps leading up to a patio outside of a screened porch. The last of the peonies hanging on...lush nepeta everywhere!

Last spring we planted 2000 quart-size perennials on this property! We have since moved and divided and added to the melange for the past year. But don't be discouraged! Most people have much smaller properties, but I hope that I have given you a hint of some outdoor possibilities.

Just remember, it doesn't have to be so grand or formal. Plants can be used to create any setting no matter the size.

Happy Gardening Everyone!

That is an extremelybeautiful lawn. And you know it just occurred to me, it's possible it might not be far for you to NYC. A group of us are getting together at a park around 4th street on Tuesday the thirteenth. Actually we're meeting at a pizza place across from it at 5:30 pm. I'm going to be staying with my cousins in Long Island for a few days, so I'll be taking the train in :) If you are able, it would be awesome for you to come!

sounds awesome! Unfortuantely I have a meeting late that afternoon after work :-( Take pics :-)

Oh, I definitely will, there will be a post :) I have a feeling at least one of them will film too.

Thank you for posting @gardenlady.

Lovely photographs and information. So very interesting and beautiful.

Yes.....gardens are worth the trouble.......it is hard to believe it is so far north and yet you have managed to create a lovely paradise for someone.

All the best. Cheers.

We try :-)
thanks @bleujay

Nothing more beautiful than fresh green and colorful flowers!

Such a perfect garden!

Beautiful grounds. Keep up the good work.

Those are beautiful flowers and path! Thank you for sharing :)

Wow, beautiful! Love your motto "Beautifying New Jersey...ONE yard at a time!" Reminds me a bit of my own moto... "Changing lives, one bite at a time" hehe. Our little community just started to plant trees, veggies, fruits etc on the green space next to the river for the whole neighborhood to enjoy! Just love this initiative.... soon my sprouted avocado trees will be ready to be planted and already donated some tomatoes plants and small jackfruit trees...

Sounds like that will be a big garden! Enjoy!

It's the green space next to the river (so we could take it up all the way to town lol), not really a garden and not really anybody's property. That's the cool part in Cambodia you can just claim these free spot and start planting for the community! So though we grow some fruit and vegs in our own garden, love to contribute to our lovely community too!

Beautiful flowers, and amazing photos. xx

Very beautiful gardens! Great post and good luck beautifying the rest of New Jersey!!
