Sowing Mammillaria Glassi cactus seeds - UPDATE #2

in #gardening5 years ago

It has been exactly 27 days since I sowed some cactus seeds I picked from my own plants. They spouted nicely and even though they look almost the same as one, or two weeks ago and still don't look like a cactus, I though I will show the tiny hair that started to show. Soon they start to produce spines that will still look like hair. And maybe after a few months they will look a bit more like the mother plant with more grownup spines.

On the photos above is Mammillaria Grlassi that is super hairy and look like a white fluff ball. On the photos below is Lobivia no ID, which looks more like a normal, round cactus

Here is how I sowed them a month ago, and here is the first update after they sprouted.

And this is how they grow now. I completely opened the bag and let the air circulate It warm and humid, so they will be fine. It is much easier to prevent any mold or smile growing. I just have to make sure they don't dry our completely. At this age the need to have the soil moist. They don't store enough water and food to survive without watering like a grownup cactus.
