Sowing Mammillaria Glassi cactus seeds - UPDATE #1

It has been 8 days since I sowed some cactus seeds. You can check full post about it here.

The little mammilaria (in green pot) started to sprout two days ago. There is a lot more of them today so at least you will see something. I am pretty sure there is also a lot more to come. Yes, it is those little green balls on top of the soil. Those are baby cacti!

I was surprised by the other seeds though! They started to sprout on the 4th day. And you can even see they are bigger too. Still they don't look like a cactus and it will be few more weeks until the do. A pleasant surprise :)

This is how I keep them now. For the whole week they were closed in high humidity and higher temperature. Now that they started to grow already I will open the bag once a day to get them used to fresh air. I know some grower keep cacti closed for weeks (or months) in sterile environment. Mine is not so sterile, so I have to ventilate it to prevent fungi and algae.
They will still stay inside that baggie. When the first spines start to appear I will keep tab constantly open on top. It will provide them fresh air, but still will prevent them from drying up too fast. Even though they are cacti, the little ones need a lot of humidity to sprout and start growing. I guess it is the rainier season in nature when they do that.

Now it is just watching them getting fatter and hairier :)
