I used to live with a girl who was forever putting scraps like that in little pots and then forgetting about them and then nobody would touch them because they weren't quite sure what she was up to and then they'd eventually be thrown out because due to neglect the water had gone all yucky and stinky and they'd be totally taking over the surface space in the kitchen.
