Garage Rock Classic - Abba by The Paragons, From Charlotte NCsteemCreated with Sketch.

Back in the 90s when I first started putting Garage Rock on the internet, I remember that this song - Abba by The Paragons - was always popular. I think part of the reason is due to people searching for that Swedish band Abba, and finding my page instead. If they gave this song a chance, I think they would like it!

This is a band of kids where only one was old enough to drive. They played around Charlotte in 1966 and recorded their one original song at a popular studio also used by James Brown. Instruments are rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, organ and drums.

The vocal style is upbeat and features a call and return of Yeah - Yeah, a word used in some Beatles songs from the year before. The tempo is mid speed and it's great for dancing. I've played it at many parties over the years.

For more on The Paragons, please see this informative wikipedia article about them.

Now enjoy Abba, by The Paragons from Charlotte, NC in this recording of them on The Village Square, a teen music TV show!
