Geeks are here to stay. There is a channel being offered by the Super Channel for esports. How do I know about this? I saw a commercial for it on another channel. On my television. Sure you can watch whatever online, and twitch is growing (go Twitch!) but there is something about television, at least in today's world, that gives a show more, for lack of a better word, credit. Yes it is an old school way of thinking and streaming is the future (I don't know if we will have cable in the next few years), but when you grow up with television being the main way to watch entertainment, you have this idea that something that gets put on television is something of quality or something that people think people will watch.

The cannel is called GNIX and I'm guessing you get it if you get the super channel (which is $9.95 a month CAD, that is around 5 steem a month at today's price :p). I might get it in the future. I do like my streaming though but wouldn't might checking it out. There might be a lot of filler. The channel does have tournaments though, I wonder if they will have evo coverage.

Esports are looking to be a big business in the upcoming years, with universities offering scholarships for professional teams to an NBA esports league starting next year. I do think it will be the norm in 5 years. There will be bigger and bigger tournaments and the number of users who watch it will continue to grow. Some games sell our stadiums for their events. I'm serious. Stadiums. I am onbaord for this but it will take a new generation or two, with people who grow up in a world where epsorts are sports, before we start to take it as a serious competition.

Canadian Esports!! I love it a little pricy for a channel but interesting news

Agreed, but happy to see esports getting popular

I'm not sure if you are familiar with the CS:GO scene but it's huge

Yeah I see it pop up as a big one but I'm a console player. Which means I'm missing dota 2, cs:go and lol. Pretty much the biggest ones. I might get into hearthstone though. Do you play cs:go?

Every once in a while... a friend has an account he lends me to play when I need too.

That's incredible... amazing how far e sports has come

The world is changing now.
My son wanted to be a exports player when he was a little boy.
Thank you for sharing

While I don't watch TV myself at all - I have Youtube for those purposes - I'm very much glad that e-sports are getting out into that market as well :)
