3 Video Game Pets/Companions That Kick Ass And One That We Wanted To ShootsteemCreated with Sketch.

Video game companions, they are there when you need them (hopefully) and make your journey easier. Maybe they help you reach a new location, or give you advice, or take a hit when you need it most. Let's take a look at 3 companions in retro games that were their to help our heroes. And one that you wanted to aim your light gun at and fire.

RUSH:

Who would not want a robotic dog as a pet? He would not get tired, you would not need to feed him and he would not leave a mess you would have to clean up with a bag. Rush, for those who don't know the name, is the dog from mega man. When you call him from the menu he drops down and raises a spring from his back. This lets you reach new heights on the map. But that was only his first use. As the games progressed so did rush. The most useful one was rush jet, where you could jump on his back and soar through the level. This made levels much easier, especially the one with the blocks that disappeared and if you played a mega man game, you know the advantage of skipping those block sections. There was also rush submarine (which was kind of useless) and in the final game on the NES, rush turned into a suit with a jetpack. That is one useful pet.

YOSHI:

Yoshi is an iconic mascot. He is green, cute and has a long tongue that he uses to swallow bad guys from a distance. Yoshi was introduced in the Super Nintendo era if Mario games. He was in the first level and instantly you were a fan. Look at that design and who doesn't like dinosaurs. One of the best perks of Yoshi is he takes the hit for you so you can keep your cape. He goes whimpering off and if you catch up to him you can still use him. There is also a blue Yoshi, a red Yoshi, a yellow Yoshi. Blue Yoshi is the best, when he has a shell in his mouth he can fly. He is so popular he got his own game and even has a photo of pixabay.

NAVI:

Hey listen! I don't know if the fairy that helps link counts as a pet, but considering link keeps them in a jar I think it qualifies :p. Sure, Navi could be annoying, but the hey listen is kind of enduring. I can still hear it in my head. And the fairy gave you advice on how you should proceed in battle. Sure Navi didn't heal like the other fairies but they don't get names. :p

Those are the ones that bring a smile to your face, but there was one pet that only infuriated you as he laughed at your failure.

THE DOG FROM DUCK HUNT:

What was that dogs problem? Every time a duck got away he would pop up and laugh at you. And we all, as kids, aimed the light gun at him. I looked up the dog on google to see if I could find a name and came across the laughing dog and also Mr. Peepers. What a creepy name for a mean animal.
