Steem vs Steam ~ Blogging vs Gaming

Steem time or Steam time?

I often sit down late at night. Kids are finally in bed and I'm ready for some ME time and my wife is ready for some HER time. Me + wife together time will come later (bow chicka wow wow) but for now it's me and my fingers with the only dirty thing being my cheesey coloured 'Dorito fingers' and keyboard keys stuck down from my sticky salty left overs. It's GAMING TIME! Finally I get to relax and get stuck into a game or two. Maybe one of the 50 unplayed games I haven't touched since being bought on a Steam sale.

It's been a long day at work.
It's been a long early evening cooking in the kitchen.
It's been a looooong night cleaning up and doing the dishes while yelling at the kids, "Go to bed NOW or I'll be writing a nasty comment on Santa's Facebook page!"

I would often throw in an overtime shift to play the old Tony Hawk Skateboarding. Snort pepper to invoke a hayfever like sneezing spasm to stay home'sick' and play Farcry Primal. Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam were maaaaassive time consumers of my life. That was until I found Steem. Now this decision of how I spend my time is getting tough. Should I blog or game? Write a blog or read blogs? Read blogs or game? Game while writing and reading blogs on the second monitor? How about sit on the toilet for an hour and think about it? Maybe read blogs on the toilet while I think about it?

Now my mind is always at a cross road. The minutes tick by quickly when you have them all to yourself. Quick, I have to make a decision. Should I invest my rare lonely time in my Steam or in my Steem? These days that's a tough choice. Is that a sign of intelligence when i'm leaning towards reading over gaming or am I just becoming a... a... a... an adult? I once would have always picked gaming over just about anything. "Yes dear, I would like to make sweet love to you.... after I just have a quick go at this new game I got. It's called Cuphead.... looks pretty easy... I shouldn't be long".

Steemit for the money? Steemit for the fans? Steemit for.... Steemit?

Steemit is starting to really grow on me in a big way. I never knew anything about blogging. In fact I thought it was something hipster vegans did in their spare time to make money for weed. I really had no idea really what a blog was or even what I'd say until I started reading other people's thoughts. The financial rewards, SBD and Steempower and all that jazz did captivate me at the start even if I still don't understand it all. Blockchain? Crypto? Steem? What the hell is all this young hooligan talk on the internet these days?? With most of my posts equating to just a few dollars, often only cents, I quickly learned it would be really unwise use of my time if money was the focus. I'd make more money washing car windscreens at the traffic lights and get this pale albino ginger body a nice tan while I'm there.

I.... can... see... the.... light!

Now I understand Steemit goes far beyond just currency. If not money, what is this place about? I began to see the magic behind the numbers. It's the PEOPLE! The connectivity that Steemit has brought even with tough times all around the world. I have been on here 1 year and never once seen even single negative comment. Sure maybe there is sometimes, of likes which I have not yet seen, but for the vast majority it's been a real pleasant experience reading blogs and comments. Who ever knew you could get more capitvated reading about other people's lives around the world would be more interesting than virtually hanging out with Princesses and jumping on mushrooms?

Now I think we all change throughout life. One day you may be deeply engrossed in movies and music, a year later you might be bored and take up a sport or learning to paint. Maybe one day I'll get tired of blogging. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe even I'm tired now cos it's freakin' 11pm at night, but for now I'm embracing the Steemit life, sharing my thoughts with people who will hopefully get something positive out of it and I'm excited to learn more about you all.

If you liked this post and wish to 'Follow' I'd love to have you along for my Steemit journey

Well, you've got a new follower and a resteem. I can so relate to this post.

Thanks @moneymatchgaming much appreciated! I'd be keen to follow you also and read your posts... when I'm not gaming on Steam ;P

This is amazingly smart and insightful! I was already your follower a few days a go but this would have made me do it again!

Thanks @whizkid! Nice to know you enjoy some of my posts :)

Hello how are you, I would like to know if you can review my publication, and tell me what you think, it would be very helpful for me, to have the opinion of a professional.

https://steemit.com/gaming/@bigdude/best-consoles-controls-my-opinion thank you so much and sorry for bother you. @spaceginger

Sure mate, I'll have a look. If you're looking for a professional you've come to the wrong place though lol.

The struggle is real lol my line is blurred too.

Haha it is hey. Right now I have both Steem and Steam open. Playing Hellblade; Senua's Sacrifice while reading blog posts. Proof to my wife a man can multi-task :D

Haha this was wonderful to read. I loved the humor along with the narrative, you're a wonderful writer. As a steam user and a steemit user, there were many things you mentioned that I can relate to.

Thankyou so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I have always loved writing (and gaming yeah!) but never really understood much of where or how to use it. The Steemit community has such great writers and artists so I'm learning to improve much of both crafts along the way. I just noticed you have a blog post on Net Neutrality that I will read for sure. I don't understand much about it, we're a little... ermm... slow down here in Australia, but it will affect all of us no doubt so this is pretty sad news.

Haha, I totally relate. Although we don't always have my step kids and I technically don't work, I do other things before sitting down for gaming or Steeming, and often times I find myself thinking "hmm, Steemit or SWTOR" lol

I try to do everything else housework wise and then guilt free relax :)

hehe same ;)

Sounds like we're long lost twins, I couldn't relate to this more! It makes me excited to have joined Steemit last week. I've been trying to find the right venue for a blog meets vlog meets place to share my art, and this sounds like it may be the right one.
Love your feed so far, and look forward to following your shtuff!
Cheers!
