Splinterlands Level 5 Summoners Upgrade; Worth it?

I’m still weighing up whether it’s a foolish thing I have done by just spending over 100 STEEM upgrading TWO of my Summoners from 4 to 5, as well as their corresponding monsters.

I know @revisesociology is has spent some cash on the game in the form of a load of Beta card packs some time ago, but was it worth it? I would like to hear what he has to say about it.

The DEC Crystals earnings have made this game worth playing so much more for me and sometimes I do impulsive things like this.

@karinxxl will know exactly what I mean, having dished out a load of crystals for Essence Orbs just recently, I bought a few of her leftovers on the market too!

In my impatience, I managed to convert a bunch of my newly bought cards to DEC crystals by mistake.

I then had to buy the cards AGAIN at a higher price.

Be careful of doing this, as the buttons are close to one another.

Avoid the Red Cross (above) which is right next to the Combine option.

Also, be careful of buying cards that have a cool-down attached. I bought 4 Gold Pirate Captain's intending on upgrading him to Level 6, only to find one was on a 3-day cool-down.

I'm now stuck with my old regular Level 4 card for a few days and can't use the 'Inspire' ability that comes with the new card.

With Steem Monsters (Splinterlands), you can only go so far on strategy and then the higher-level cards start doing their thing.

It’s a steep upgrade from 4 to 5, but the abilities begin to stack up.

Twisted Jester gains 'Dodge' at Level 5. I always used him on the back lines, but now he's even better placed there.

Crustacean King, gains 'Protect' and blesses all my other monsters with an extra one armour. Handy for the ones that don't have any, against Melee and Ranged attacks.

Water Elemental also gains 'Dodge' at Level 5 making him even better on the back line, and Ruler of the Seas gains 'Swiftness' and an extra Magic Damage. He's strong at Level One but is much better at Two.

So, I’m now around 115 STEEM down but I tell you it feels good to kick arse again in the lower Gold Ranks,
