Twitch Plays What?

Community Gaming?

I want to show you guys a new way to play games that can have a big impact on gaming as a whole.
This changes the way of a game being a single player experience into a community.
what would I call it? collaborative gaming or collective gaming or even community gaming.

Ok so what is this type of gaming?

You have a game that is in a livestream like twitch and users type in commands into the chat box of the which determines the outcome of the game. The first game that people tried out with this type of gameplay was pokemon and to much to peoples skeptical thoughts the game worked really well with this idea.

You are playing pokemon and you want to go into the grass to catch a pokemon. You type in the command to move towards the grass to start looking for pokemon. The user right after you says to walk away. Someone else wants to go into the grass like you. A battle comes up the pokemon shows up. Now the UI for the game comes up. One user goes into the item selection to grab a pokeball. The next command puts the pokeball into the item slot again and stops what the first user was trying to do. The next switches the pokemon. Then here comes a person who clicks on run from battle. It is pure chaos and you can never predict what will happen next.

In this .gif the community of twitch players tried to traverse route 9 which if you jump down you have to walk all the way back up. It is a system of ledges. Later on there is another ledge that will bring you back to this area so they were stuck here for a while!
More shenanigans occurred when they went to deposit a new pokemon that they got and instead they ended up deleting their roster of pokemon and were left with the new pokemon that they deposited.

Even in its complete chaos they did beat pokemon.

Here is a link to prove that they beat the game!

It took only 16 days to beat it. The normal game probably could be beaten in a few days. I bet there was users who played from when it started to when it ended.

They even went and played dark souls.
Look how that turned out for them

Gif of dark souls

by this time they had a organized way to do this and with more orgnization= more chance of beating a game.

There has been a few games since then that they continued on with this type of gameplay.
Including
all of the pokemon games
all of the dark souls games
and games that were just built for this platform and gameplay that are similar to mobile games or games with a bunch of characters on the screen.
Here is a link to all the community games they are playing right now

There is a Pokemon game being played right now!

Personally id join the community to try to play
Half-Life
FF7
GTA:SA- or GTA SA MP
Metal gear solid
Resident Evil.

What about a civilization game where you have a bunch of countries. Those countries have buildings and towns, massive armies, exploring and learning how to improve your country all mixed into one. This game seems like it could be perfect for this type of collaboration. Have 10 armies split the users into 10 groups and give a few people over different parts of the game that builds up your specific country.
The more organized and well thought the group is the better they would do. You would need a leader at the top. This could lead to competitive games in a new way that never has been thought of or done before.

Community Driven Stock Market game/Simulation

These community games are changing though. A stock investor recently took 50,000 dollars and gave its users the chance to cooperatively try to trade stocks using a game UI. It is touted as the first massive multiplayer stock market game. Would you trust random people with 50,000 of your currency to see if they can beat the stock market ? I would not. My money would be gone lol.

How you can evolve this type of game.

This leads me to my final idea when it comes to this type of gaming.
How can you change it? What can happen from this?
Why not make a similar setup on this website.
You can have a section called steem.it games

You have community games like these twitch play games that are based off steems ecosystem.
You work together when you defeat something together you get a bit of steem. If you lead your party into something that is bad or you do something that is bad for the group, your steem gets deducted and the one who got the group out of the rut will get a little steem bonus. You reward users for different qualities like helping the team out, being a leader, knowing the games design to the point you stop your group from messing up. You also reward people who stay throughout the whole game or for harder challenges in the game.
This brings gamers to steem.it and brings a little bit of fun to this website!

I think I found a place where someone could use these games for steemit collaboration
This website has thousands of msdos games that are all free to play from your browser!

Think about playing oregon trail with 1000 steemians does that sound fun?
I think it would be the greatest thing ever. Although we would probably have people who died of dysentery 5000000 times.

Well thank you steem.it for reading this article of mine.

I always like thinking of new things that might work with a platform i always have ideas.
They might be wacky they might work only time will tell. I am speculative

The issue is that while a person might be smart, people are usually stupid.
Just look how all the "internet naming polls" came out to be.

I think it be funny if stupid would fuck things up and the leader would be there to fix it

it could be a dynamic game changing thing hahahaaha

I had a lot of fun participating in the original Pokémon game when it was on Twitch, and found this concept to be pretty entertaining. The stock market one seems pretty cool. How long has it been running?

I like Your article but I think if You want a community gaming experience why not play a multiplayer-game or MMO? In my opinion thats community gaming...

That could be the case of multiplayer games as well! I was thinking because of this being such a community it would be a great way to reward people of the community with steemit in a new way that currently is not there.

Interesting, I think this could become huge, I like the concept.
My opinion is that using this idea on games that already exist is not going to be the future because there will be errors, that is why I like the concept of new games being made for this.
Games wich focus on a simple user interface, like for example "Left, Right, Up, Down, Defend, Attack".
If they would do this I think it would be a huge success.

It can become huge. I have not seen anything about it on steemit so I wanted to bring it to this website. With you getting a chance to get steem the draw would be huge. And your right it would need to be simplified and games would need to be created that has a certain design that would not allow you to fuck up on as much. I mean they could still add this to the game and include penalties for you screwing your group up. It would lead to group chemistry and getting over the problems that would be in the game.

You write well, @sinned. Collaborative gaming sounds like a wonderful concept. A community-driven stock market doesn't sound like a bad idea either, especially if we can all win together.

You think so? it would be interesting to throw in real steem and see what it happens how much people would bet and see what would happen from it?!?!?

Well, yeah. Yeah, I do think so. Collaborative gaming is definitely what will happen right after you, me, the gaming community members, all become Steemit billionaires. Naturally, that should be fun, right?!

billionaires arent you shooting to high?

If you are going to dream, you might as well dream big!

I remember when this first came out. I used to watch it all the time while I was studying. Thanks for the detailed trip down memory lane. The community driven stock market idea would be ridiculous xD

give a little bit of steem to enter be part of this little game. WATCH STEEM go to the moon and be afraid when it goes down. We know that this would be @steemitqa s favorite game

Did someone say MOON ?

this is moon the game

There's a couple of games like that, designed specifically for use by twitch streamers and their viewers.
It's rather ingenious... Although limiting in it's sales base

I would like to see this intertwined with steemit!
We could make our own little gaming community!
And you are right. This would not be about sales but more of a community completing a goal and being rewarded for that!

I could think of some really nifty ways to design a game for this platform... But the platform itself needs to be setup for that... Similar to how Facebook has games...steemit needs to establish that first so people like myself can start making games for it.

How would steem design a little area for games on here? Do you know any devs on here. Id be interested in seeing your games sometime.

I reached out to someone.
I'm sure it's something we could get working within a year....it's not like flipping a switch
I'll let you know what I hear

Yeah wish it was Id be playing steem games tommorrow hahaha.
DING steemit games is here!
Man that was quick too. Let me know of the progress of everything.
Nice talking to you @jonny-clearwater

@jonny-clearwater I am also going to throw down ideas with esports functionality with this website ill let you know within the post if it is cool with you

Following to see if your community stock idea turns into anything.

I hope they do turn it into something we can make steem!
