The Rise of Steemit: Steemit Ironman #2 (Europa Universalis IV)

Welcome back Steem Folks!

Today we're going to pick up where we left off with the nation of Steemit. We got off to a good start in episode one (here) and we're gonna try to keep the steam rising.

Let's get started!

Times of Desperation:

When we last left off, we'd taken some land from Jolof and forced them to become our loyal vassal. We're currently far ahead of our peers in Africa as far as technology goes and we have an alliance with Morocco to the north.

Our aggressive expansion has caused us to gain some enemies in the area, so we seek out friendly nations. We look to the people of Jenne for an alliance.

*This new diplomacy tool is incredibly convenient as you can see here.

It doesn't take long for Jenne to call for our aid in battle against Mali. We accept, hoping to surprise them. As you can see, Jenne is being demolished by rebels as well.

In an unfortunate turn of events, our dear Ned Scott has passed on and his queen, a very competent leader, has taken over until Polydoros comes of age.

We catch Mali's army off guard and fight like hell. Our troops are victorious, but we lose most of our men in the battle due to their massive army and highly skilled general.

We meet them again at their capital, but this time we take heavier losses as in they delete our entire army. We quickly try to train more infantry, but the cost is great and our economy is tanking.

Losing the war, we see no other option than to seek peace with Mali. We are forced to give them what's left of Jolof and many ducats, but we keep our land.

Our newly formed army takes heavy losses defending against Jolofian rebels who seek independence for their former nation. They've been pestering Mali as well.

Yet another stack of rebels, this time from our own lands, wipes our army and begins to take back their homeland. It doesn't look good for us.

With no army and our economy tanking, we're forced to accept the Jolofian rebel's demands. The terrifying thing is that they kept our technology after gaining their independence.

Shifting our focus internal, we begin to research Economic Ideas in order to bolster our shrunken economy.

Polydoros ascends to the throne! Though he is not much of an administrator, his military genius speaks for itself.

Now that our economy has improved and we've paid off our loans, we have an army to fight for us. We begin an amphibious assault on Jolof, who put up a hell of a fight due to our disadvantage from disembarking ships.

We've gathered enough splendor to select a golden age trait thing. I'm still getting used to this mechanic, but we take one that gives us a home terrain advantage in combat.

We manage to destroy the Jolofian army and take back our lands from them! We take many ducats as well.

After a strange event, the nation of Fulo forms to the east. They are Fetishists who worship false gods and they don't like us at all.

Polydoros has produced an heir! We name him Ned in honor of his grandfather. He will make a decent leader when it is his turn to rule Steemit.

That's All for This Episode!

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed this episode and will tune in for the next one.
