Card and board games are still popular. How many of these games have we already seen on the TV or computer screen? UNO is also one of those titles that can already be played on multiple platforms. And now the game is also on the Switch! You can read about this version in the Uno Switch Review.

Of course, it looks a bit like milking: a game that already came out eight years ago for the Xbox 360 and re-released PlayStation 3 for the Nintendo Switch. UNO has to introduce several new elements at that time, if it wants to be fresh and does not seem like a simple port to the Nintendo Switch.

Themes everywhere

Despite the fact that UNO is a simple port for the Nintendo Switch, it does have fresh elements. But above all: the game remains very nice. Ubisoft has added several so - called theme decks to the PC version, which came out last year. In that version was already a Raving Rabbids theme, with the cute rabbits from that series, making UNO suddenly a rabbit hole with several new maps and a different background.

It provided a refreshment of the standard UNO jars you were ready for after an hour. The Nintendo Switch version has some extra themes: Rayman and Just Dance 2017 make their appearance, as well as a winter theme. And those theme decks provide a lot of fun. So there is a card with Rayman, so that a fat monster from Rayman Legends falls on the table, eats all the cards and randomly distributes them among the players. This ensures more variation in UNO.

Basic UNO

Variation of food makes food and it provides a fresh wind through the UNO landscape. Yet a normal game of UNO is still very nice. For people who do not know exactly what the card game is, UNO is a kind of bullying. Each player has seven cards and must try to finish his hand as quickly as possible.

You do this by placing a number on the table, for example a two-on-two, or the same color on the last card you have placed. Of course there are also a kind of plague cards, with which the next player must take two cards or have to skip a turn. They are simple rules, just like bullying, making UNO a popular game.

On the Web…

Popular is the game online, where you can battle against multiple UNO players. On the Nintendo Switch, you can also play cards with others on your own or in pairs. There are several options to play: do you play one or three rounds with each other or is the player who collects the first 200 points the winner?

With those multiple choices, it is also more fun to play online than offline. The pots offline can quickly become monotonous and boring, since you can not adjust the difficulty of the AI. Through the worldwide web you will always encounter some seasoned UNO fanatics. You can win medals online if you have achieved certain milestones. This can be pretty intimidating for your future opponents.

...or on the couch

Offline, you unfortunately do not have those milestones, so you can not seem intimidating on the bank as a big player in UNO. In any case, a game of UNO is a lot more fun than alone, but it is limited only by two people who play against two computer-controlled bots. If you could play on one Switch with several people, it would have been even better.

Logically, this is not possible because of the number of controllers, but if one of your friends has a Nintendo Switch with UNO, you can play against each other with four. This is a good addition of Ubisoft, but frankly there is a small chance that someone from your area has a Switch plus UNO. The paper card game is then a lot cheaper and easier to do.

In addition, the Switch version has very few modes to play, only two plus, and you are already pretty fast looking forward to the offline section of UNO. It saves at that moment that online cart carts and you repeatedly call UNO calls.

Conclusion

UNO is and remains a fun game, which also works on the Nintendo Switch. Admittedly, offline it is all very little and with only two people on the couch it can quickly become repetitive, but on the go it is really fun. Especially when you can go online, where the really nice pots are located. There are also some cool themes in the game, plus your own unique cards, and UNO keeps you busy for a while.

➕ Addition of themes
➕ Uno remains fun
➕ Co-op and multiplayer!

➖ Still few modes
➖ Can get bored quickly offline
