The Best Episodic Video Games

in #gaming8 years ago

Sometimes it takes a long time to produce a great game and developers had this sneaky idea, why not break the game into multiple episodic parts and make even more money. In some of the games I will mention they indeed made a bunch load of money by doing so.  Bad part of that deal for the players is the long waiting time for episode to be released and their wallet somehow gets thinner by playing this games. Here are some of the best episodic games out there.

Starcraft 2

As you might already know Starcraft 2 had three games and three campaigns, one for each race and every one of those expansions took 2 years to make. Starcraft 2 is 6 years old game already but with episodes or expansions it is still alive and going strong with the most popular RTS Esport. Epic story with the most iconic races came to an end with Legacy of the Void but I'm sure we will see Starcraft 3 in the future.

The Walking Dead

Popular Comic Book, popular TV Series, popular Video Game. Walking Dead franchise is dominating the media world. In this point and click action game you will play as survivors of the nasty plague that turn people into zombies. Gut wrenching story, main characters dying all the time, this game has all that and more.

Tales From The Borderlands

Borderlands games are first person action role playing games with wacky characters and dark humor. Tales From Borderlands took a different approach to this game and went old school as a point and click action adventure game. You plays as two crazy characters Reese and Fiona that are trying to beat the bad guys. Very funny game worth playing.

Game of Thrones

Just like Walking Dead franchise, Game of Thrones is rushing to make money everywhere. In this episodic game you will meet many characters from the TV Series but the story is based on brand new characters from clan Forester that are trying to make it in this grim fantasy world.

Dragon Age? Mass Effect? How could you miss those?!

I did enjoy me some solid dragon age (the first one and expansion) the second for some reason I could not get into it on my ps4, I just don't get it. Maybe it threw me into the fade too early on... I was never a fan of the fade. The first one though was truly phenomenal!

Inquisition ate up about 6 months of my life. It was epic and I will replay it again. For sure.

I can't wait to be an old retired senior who just games lol. A man can dream.

Those are full sequels, I'm talking about episodic games. You know something like DLC's or Expansions.

They all had DLC / Expansions.

Episodic games contain less content, on this list only Starcraft 2 is a big game, everything else you will complete in an hour or two and wait for the next episode.

@moon32walker Just let me say this:

  • your content is awesome
  • you provide beatifull insight in old and new games
  • you make good point good and bad on games
  • you make clean layerd post with spaces and big images

And now I will explain...

So I had a terrible day (details) dont matter and I just binge watched all your posts and trow a bunch of upvote ...if you dont see them...you will soon...
Thanks man for making this day better for me!
