Gaming Retrospective - Startopia

in #gaming7 years ago

Startopia is a RTS game where players manage their own space station filled with various alien species. One of the wackiest game out there released in 2001 and developed by Mucky Foot Productions and published by Eidos Interactive. Players take a role of space station manager after all out galactic war, and these space stations are the only last oasis of peace left. In very charming manner all those aliens will have needs and you need to provide it for them, or they will leave your station and you as a manager can't have that.

Reminiscent to Dungeon Keeper and Majesty games, players do not have direct control of their alien citizens and must build certain objects to please them and make them stay. Every alien is different and has their own special ability that station managers can use in order to gather more aliens, or get more resources needed for the objectives. You would need to build different rooms for recreation purposes, working rooms, health care, food, anything what a successful space station manager would need, all in order to expand and open new space station bulkheads for your alien community to grow. Fun little SF game from different gaming times.

The good ol times!

The reminds me, I still have it installed. You can now get it from steam btw. http://store.steampowered.com/app/243040/

If anyone knows about this game it is you. How come you don't write more gaming posts considering you know a hellova lot about games? Don't think I will play it these days :)

Too busy playing games :D

Maybe I start again. Have to make a new title though. For games after 2000. Games of Medieval Times?

I consider this steemit era as a little break from playing games way too much so I can write about games more. Either way, can't escape them :) Whatever is your choice I'll back you up.

Ever played Space Colony?

No, I missed that one. Seems fun.

One of my favorite games! :)
