Surf World Series Review - Saves piece in the surf

The British Climax Studios saw a hole in a certain wave, since the surf games can be counted on one hand in recent years. Where other sports such as skating , snow boarding and BMX received multiple titles, there were few titles in which you glide towards a wave. Something very nice to do! That training starts before your rookie in the pool, where you are quietly taken with the basics of surfing. This is a good start to Surf World Series , because there will not be many people who know how to defy such a wave right from the start. You paddle quietly to a wave, release the button and before you know it you stand on your board and surf.

Here are also the first tricks: the holding of your board, jumping in the air and 'floating' on top of the wave. One of the most beautiful aspects of Surf World Series is that you can also enter the tube of the wave yourself, which creates a beautiful moment: the waves that constantly strike you behind, while you try to keep the balance is really fantastic.

…to the sea

Despite that great moment in the tunnel, there is also a big downside of Surf World Series . The camera. This is because it will stay in one place, the moment you do not expect it anymore. As we have already mentioned, you can put the tube in and on tube riding, where you have to keep the right balance. However, the point is that the camera only very late makes a switch to your character, so you usually fall into the water hard.

Now that in the water thunder is absolutely no problem, because it is something that belongs to surfing. You will sometimes experience these whipeouts in the swimming pool and if you have made the entire introduction, which is relatively short, then you can get started in real life. And there Surf World Series offers several 'iconic' locations.

It is therefore unfortunate that these locations are always the same, since your focus is only on the waves. The background environments are not really displayed properly, which is partly due to the not very good graphics. You would then have to make the distinction between Australia, South Africa and Hawaii, but you will not succeed.

Trucage

What you succeed in Surf World Series, is to perform several tricks, since the gameplay works well and it is not difficult to get the tricks under control. On the golf surfing you do L2, while you can make sharp turns with R2 and thus get more speed for a big trick.

These tricks work like a combo: if you keep surfing well, you build up like that and you can quickly press one of the four buttons in quick succession to do a great trick; the camera then moves under your surfer, while he or she does a smashing trick in slow motion. This is an aspect of Surf World Series which remains fun to do.

No 'fish' to be found

Unfortunately that is also one of the few nice aspects of Surf World Series. The game offers only three game modes: a single player mode that you can use very quickly, online and a kind of free style surfing. The lack of variation is also a death blow for Surf World Series, since you are constantly doing the same thing. This is fun for a while, but can quickly get bored after a while.

Online might have saved a bit of things, but there are as many people available online as you can see the North Sea going to surf in December: zero. And that's a shame, since you can surf online against fifteen others and thus experience some fun in Surf World Series. You can also completely customize your own surfer in terms of clothing and board, but this does not add much to the title.

Finally, it is striking that the game on the current generation of consoles still looks so poor. You can hardly see the background environments, but with every look you cast on it, it looks like the game is intended for the PlayStation 3. Add to that the monotonous background numbers and you will quickly put the game aside.

Conclusion

Surf World Series tries to make surfing popular again, but it does not really succeed. The surfing works well and the tricks are cool to do, but the title quickly becomes repetitive and boring. Sometimes the camera also does not work well and online there are more fish to find than other surfers. Unfortunately no thundering wave for Surf World Series and no popularity prize.
