Sometimes you have those typical game series that you think will last a long time. Burnout is such a series. It is a series where you tear around with big cars and where you have the opportunity to tap the opponents off the track, after which those cars are demolished with a lot of spectacle. The last game in the series is Burnout Paradise and appeared ten years ago. With Burnout Paradise Remastered, old times revive.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is better seen as a polished port than a game that is reinvented, such as the Shadow of the Colossus remaster. It is therefore a little bit of an inexpensive piece of work. It is as if you are warming up a meal again. The game has a 4K resolution and has improvements in the area of textures and light effects. In addition to this technical update, these are the points that we have noticed.

Paradise City!

There are few games that have a theme song that fits the game as well as Burnout Paradise Remastered. Guns' n Roses who sing 'Take me back to the Paradise City' while you tear at the high speed and try to cause as much damage as possible, that is the essence of perfection. The opening is also done very strongly in this way and ensures that you immediately end up in the right atmosphere.

Nice rams in Burnout Paradise Remastered

The concept of Burnout Paradise Remastered is simple, but man, what works well. Participate in races and then just win because just before the finish you give an opponent a knock and he mercilessly hits a bus, that feels so very good. It is an arcade style of racing that you do not see today and this game shows that it is strange. It works and it is extremely contagious to do.

A lot of content

An extra fine point to Burnout Paradise Remastered is that the game is equipped with all the dlc that was finally released for the game. In this way, the already extensive game has only become bigger and better. You can also work with engines next to the most fat cars, if that is more your thing.

Fast travel had been nice

Although the positivity prevails, there are also two downsides. The first can be traced back to the fact that the game is simply transferred and does not use standards that we are accustomed to today. For example, you can not fast-train to a location to do a race there and you have to travel to the Junk Yard before changing your car. It would have been nice if you had not had to perform these superfluous actions.

In addition, you notice the streets you drive through that you are dealing with a game of almost ten years old. A lot of traffic is not to be seen during free driving, which gives you the feeling that you are a bit alone in something that still counts as a big city. On this kind of points it would have been nice if the developer had done just a bit more and had really made a good remaster. Now it is more of a port with a new coat of paint and that is a shame.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
