Dead Rising: Game Review

in #gaming7 years ago

Simply put Zombies, Psychopaths, and Survivors all shoved inside a mall with a freelance photographer.

The first noticeable difference between this game and other zombie games is the camera mode. It is introduced as the first thing your character Frank West can do as you fly to the Willamette Parkview Mall. As you take aerial shots from above on the devastation that the zombie plague has inflicted on Willamette.

Another thing that Dead Rising developer Capcom did well was capture an interesting take on experience gaining. Experience or [PP] in Dead Rising is gained through all sorts of endeavors from killing countless zombies, killing psychopaths, saving survivors, taking horrifying pictures with your camera, or something as stupid as realigning the Servbot's head in the toy store.

Dead Rising also shows what a disaster can do to people whether they go out of their way to help people get through this terrible thing or break their psyche and dilute their minds to nothing more than a psychopathic chainsaw wielding clown.

This game revolves around one thing, TIME!
You have 72 hours to do whatever you want when you get dropped from your helicopter onto the mall. Past the introduction of meeting Brad and Jessica the partners from Homeland security trying to figure out what happened here your time starts. You have 72 hours to put all the Servbot heads you can on zombies, kill all the psychopaths you can, save all the survivors or let them die. Throughout the game a mall Janitor known as Otis calls you on your transceiver to give you information about what you can do and what's happening throughout the mall. This information is called scoops and their objective is to either save survivors, kill a psychopath, or check out the raincoat cult. All scoops have a time limit on responding to them some are blue and can be ignored and checked out later. Others come with less time to respond of each of them red is the least amount of time to respond and once it goes away there is no getting that scoop back and if you don't answer the transceiver at all you'll never get the scoop. As well as getting cut off by a zombie grabbing hold of you while on the phone with Otis. He'll give you his trademark saying "Don't cut me off like that, it's rude!" and continue on.

Being that this game is just north of 11 years old it is still a classic zombie game with graphics that aren't that dated. With all said and done the replay ability on this game is frighteningly good. With incentive cosmetics and weapons to be had for different game endings and responding to some scoops the different play styles of this game are endless. With the best incentive being the working Mega-Man Blaster after getting an achievement for killing 53,594 zombies which is the population of Willamette.20170930131632_1.jpg

This game doesn't just stop and play naturally in cut scenes either meaning what your wearing is what you see. I say if you haven't played this game yet it is a must play and if you've already played it an amazing replay. 9/10 20170930141955_1.jpg
