obviously, kids are dumb, that is sort of their purpose, to learn and stop being wise when they grow up.

But that doesn't mean why shouldn't find ways to for example stop kids from going thousands of dollars into debt because they are dumb. The same way we don't allow kids to take mortgages because they just aren't mentally ready for that.
