5 most wanted remakes (1).png

Hey now everybody, hope you're all doing well, and welcome to my list of Top 5 Games That Deserve A Remake! In recent years we've been seeing this new trend of older games receiving remakes for modern consoles. Some titles from the past hold up really well, while others become almost unplayable. With the success of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Shadow Of The Colossus, Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy, and of course the excellent Resident Evil 2 Remake it got me thinking. What other classic games would I like to see revived in this way? For me, an obvious place to start would be the PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64 era, as this was the beginning of 3-d gaming. Many of the games from this time period were a little rough around the edges, but are still full of potential and have lots of fans who grew up playing those consoles. So here are my five picks for remakes I hope to see in the near future.

#5 - Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire

My first pick might be a little obscure, but I think it could be remade into something really special. Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire is a Nintendo 64 game developed by LucasArts that was released back in 1996. The story takes place between episodes 5 and 6, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi. Even though it's a brand new plot not featured in any of the films it still incorporates many familiar characters and locations. You play as a mercenary named Dash Rendar, who is working with Luke Skywalker to try and rescue Princess Leia. She's being held captive by a new villain named Prince Xizor, an alien being who's head of the crime syndicate known as the Black Sun.

When this first came out I was a huge Star Wars fan, and I thought this game was fantastic. Looking back at it now I can see it didn't hold up very well, but it has a lot of potential if properly remade. The gameplay is broken up into chapters, some that are third person shooters, and some that have you flying in various ships. It begins with the battle of Hoth, and from there you travel to many different locations in the Star Wars universe. You have brief encounters with Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, and you also get to fight some notorious bounty hunters like IG-88 and Boba Fett. Shadows Of The Empire has all the right elements of an amazing Star Wars game, but it desperately needs to be remade in order to become relevant again.

#4 - Silent Hill 2

The Silent Hill franchise is all but dead now that Konami has no interest in making games anymore. But if they won't make any new entries to the series they should let someone else remake the original trilogy, preferably the second one. Those first three games are masterpieces of the genre, featuring their own unique brand of survival horror that nobody else has managed to replicate. It would be incredible to see the town of Silent Hill brought to life with stunning modern graphics and smoother gameplay. Being able to explore a much more detailed version of the game would really add to the overall creepiness, especially with Pyramid Head chasing you around those dark corridors.

I would be fine with any of the first three games being remade, but my favorite was always Silent Hill 2. It had such a great story, memorable characters, and some of the best enemies in the series. You play as James Sunderland, just an ordinary guy, who receives a letter from his wife who recently passed away. She says that she will be waiting for you in their special place, which James knows is the town of Silent Hill, so he travels there to try and find out who really sent this letter to him. Once he gets there he becomes trapped in a nightmarish scenario where all his worst fears come to life, and it's up to you to figure out the mystery of what's actually going on. I know it's a long shot, but will somebody please give this classic game the remake it deserves.

#3 - Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Resident Evil 3 is a survival horror game developed by Capcom. It was originally released in 1999 for the PlayStation 1, with ports that came out for the Dreamcast, and Gamecube. This game was supposed to be a spin-off of the main series with a different protagonist and more action oriented gameplay, but Capcom decided to make it part of the original trilogy instead. Taking place during the same time as Resident Evil 2 you play as Jill Valentine as she tries to escape Raccoon City during the zombie outbreak. A new creature called the, Nemesis, also continuously stalks her and pops up to fight you in different parts of the game.

Out of every entry on my list this is definitely the one with the highest chance of actually getting a remake. It's the last one in the original trilogy that hasn't been done yet, and after the success of the recent Resident Evil 2 Remake there's a good chance this is already in the works. As a longtime fan of the series who grew up playing these games it's so great to see them coming back to life in whole new way. I always thought Nemesis was a fantastic game that frequently got overlooked, with tons of potential for an incredible remake. Capcom has been doing an amazing job of bringing this series back, and hopefully we wont have too long of a wait before see some evidence of this really being made.

#2 - Dino Crisis

In the late nineties Capcom had another survival horror franchise, besides Resident Evil, that seems to have been completely abandoned. Dino Crisis was a short lived series of games that had you fighting against dinosaurs instead of the undead. You play as Regina, a military agent sent as part of a team to investigate an incident that took place at a research facility on a secluded island. Once you arrive you find the place overrun with dinosaurs, and now danger lurks around every corner. Even though it's a survival horror game there's also some action-adventure elements, with more gunfights, and a faster pace.

This series started off strong, but over the years it changed pretty drastically until they just stopped making them altogether. The first one was a classic though, and if Capcom remade it with the same quality of the Resident Evil 2 Remake it could put Dino Crisis back on the map. I loved playing these games when I was young. It was a different take on the genre that worked really well, and I think it could easily catch on again if done right. These developers have already proven that they know how to do a proper remake, now let's just hope they keep making more of them.

#1 - Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve is an action RPG developed by Squre, that was released on the PlayStation 1 back in 1998. You play as Aya Brea, a New York City police officer who gets caught up in a supernatural attack on the city. People start spontaneously combusting out of nowhere, and animals begin to mutate into hideous creatures. Aya learns that a woman named Eve is behind all of this, which is the start of a six day long adventure that the game takes you through. You travel to many different locations around New York, chasing down Eve, and fighting against her creations as a pretty intense sci-fi horror story unfolds.

This was a very unique game for it's time that really deserves to be brought back. Having the city for a backdrop made for some impressive scenery, even on the PS1 it looked good. The game had a dark, horror like atmosphere, with lots of creepy imagery, but it took place in December right around Christmas, so everywhere you went had decorations up, and plenty of snow outside. It had a pausable real-time combat system, that was also kind of turn based, with all the RPG elements you would expect from a Square title. This was one of my favorite games that released for the PlayStation 1, and if I had my choice it would be the first in line for a remake.

Thank you for reading my list of Top Five Games That Deserve A Remake, I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to give me your picks down in the comments, and have a great day!

I'd love to see a Shadows of the Empire remake. It's a classic that to few people have gotten to experience, and a great example of the Star Wars extended universe.

Thank you! I was worried nobody would even remember that game, and it's one of my favorite Star Wars titles.

Sadly, my memories of it are pretty thin; I only got a chance to play it a little when I was pretty young, but I remember it being cool. That probably increases the need for a remake, though.

I don't think there is a game out there more deserving of a Remake then Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. That is an absolutely fantastic game, but comes with some heavy flaws holding it down, though even despite those I'd still rate it in my top 20 games of all time.

They need to make it a bit more obvious what does and does not effect your reputation, Alignment and Charisma, as without a detailed guide online or god knows how many hours of micromanaging and replay you will never realize every detail that goes into it.

Also give a few ways to tell what your stats on different units need to be too upgrade them, and a handful of other tweeks and you'd seriously have something amazing.

I mean it's an SNES game with 13 endings. Even Chrono Trigger doesn't have that many endings.

Also I stand by the idea that the mix of Alignment, Charisma, and Reputation makes for the greatest morality system in all of gaming. Nothing else even compares.

That's a great pick! A lot of people didn't get to play it on the SNES since apparently there were only about 25,000 copies of the game available in North America, but it's definitely one of the best tactical RPGs out there.

Edit: There we go, fixed it. :-)

Holy shit I was lucky then. I lived in a town of, at the time, about 3500 people, and we hand a very small video rental shop that had a selection of video games to rent.

Somehow it had all the great RPGs of the SNES. Earthbound, Final Fantasy IV and VI, Breath of Fire 2, Lufia 2, Secret of Mana and Evermore, Super Mario RPG.

With only 25K copies of Ogre Battle I have no idea how one ended up there.

Edit: I looked it up, and it was 25K in NOrth America, not Worldwide.
