Everwing, the addictive Messenger SHMUP game

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you the messenger game I played for hours and hours and which made me ignore other games like Overwatch and League of Legends.

//writing this down made me feel kind of weird tbh

Sou you might be wondering,

What is the game about?

You fly upwards and shoot. Yep. That's it.
Thanks for reading, see you at the next article.
Ehehe, jokes aside that is pretty much what you do in the game. You drag your fairy left and right to avoid obstacles and enemy projectiles while she is constantly shooting. Enemies drop coins from which you can either evolve your fairies or buy dragon eggs. Dragons are flying with you and ... * -guess what! - * Shooting with you.
Basically Everwing is your typical shoot em up game with some RPG and collectible elements.

So what makes it good?

  • It is highly addictive. You get rewarded a lot, especially at early levels. You will get a bit stronger after each run and that makes you wanna fly again.

  • The voice lines, characters and the game overall is charming. You can also compete with your Facebook friends' score and show off.

  • There is also a guild-like system rather for end-gamers where you can defeat bosses together with weekly resets.

  • Events and event content changes ~monthly

  • Excellent availability, you just have to open up the FB messenger and you are ready to play

So what makes it bad?

  • Really grindy (well... some people like that)
  • Pay to win | And the devs are getting greedier with time
  • Easy to hack (pay to win and easy to hack... seriously?!)
  • New characters, sidekicks and sometimes enemies are added to the game but the game flow did not change at all for the last 2 years

Personal experience

  • I really enjoyed the game when it was new, sometimes I log in these days too
  • Decided to collect and max out every dragon
  • Limit-break mechanism got added to the game which allows dragons to get past 30 levels if two maxed level dragon are merged up to 50 level. I have done the maths and it now requires over 1 million dragons of the same kind, maxed out to reach the apex :^)
  • Otherwise there is no new content which would make me stick with the game, even though it is one of my favorite mobile games (it can be played in browsers too)

Because I really like Everwing and realized its mistakes I decided to create a similar game with my own ideas as a pet project in my free-time. I do not know what progress it will make and if it will be ever published, but I will share with you the state of the game every few days here on Steemit(/busy/esteem/Partiko etc.) starting from tomorrow.

Thank you for reading!

Hehe yeah, I could get really hooked if there would be a popular, high-quality shoot 'em up game :) Thanks for the engagement!
