Who's The Best Stealthy Assassin?

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

"It's a funny thing, ambition. It can take one to sublime heights or harrowing depths. And sometimes they are one and the same."
-Emily Kaldwin

My favorite class in video games, assassins may known for their stealth capability, but the following assassins can also confront their foes in open combat, and even defeat enemies with much heavier armors and weapons than them. They can infiltrate heavily guarded places and get their missions done. Either they do it in silence and swiftly, or chaotic and clean, they will always succeed in killing their targets, or taking the valuable loot then disappear in the shadow. Who is your best assassin?

Corvo Attano (Dishonored)

The Lord Protector armed with his fancy sword and mark of the Outsider which improve his already impressive agility and combat skill, also grant him various supernatural powers such us stops time for a short duration, short distance teleportation, possess other's mind, and more. Thanks to his supernatural powers he can pull off spectacular assassinations to a number of enemies at once. This masked steampunk (or in this case whalepunk?) assassin can kill in a blink of an eye.

Rikimaru (Tenchu)

The hard-to-mess ninja with a cowl covering his mouth and badass scar over his right eye, Rikimaru, master of the Azuma ninja clan, is adept at dispatching his foes silently. He would lurk in the shadows and kill his victims from a distance with blades, shurikens and tasty looking poisoned rice balls. He is a highly talented Azuma style master swordsman, he has defeated many skilled warriors and even the overpowered one. He mastered many ninja arts such as Sword Art, Archery Art, Water Survival Art, etc. He keep getting stronger until he mastered the ultimate ability called Wrath of Heaven where he can instantly kill any enemy with one blow.

Ezio Auditore (Assassin's Creed)

The star of three of the main entry Assassin's Creed games, is perhaps the first one to comes to your mind when talking about video game assassins. Armed with every weapon available and Leonardo da Vinci at his back, he could slay Templars any day, even he has also engaged in a fist fight with the Pope. He can assassinate high profile targets undetected, and if the guards caught him pulling off the assassination his iconic free running ability could really helps him to escape. Or if he happens to reveal himself in open combat, his formidable hand-to-hand fighting skill is not something the Templars should underestimate.

Agent 47 (Hitman)

Not all assassins are only exist in the past, but also in the modern time and he is as deadly as assassins can be. Agent 47, is a hitman who is genetically engineered mind and body in order to become a highly effective assassin, and he is considered to be the greatest assassin in the world. This well dressed bald assassin, Agent 47 is not only the master of gunplay but also really good at making things look like a mere accident. Due to his extreme training, he is a master of any firearms and highly skilled using a sniper rifle, but he also tend to take his targets out from close range silently with his favorite fiberwire.

Styx (Styx)

Styx, as a (ancient) goblin is significantly a shorter being but that doesn't makes him any less intimidating than most of his enemies as he is capable of killing humans twice of his size without being noticed. He prefer to sit on high view point observing and plot a series of moves instead of reveal himself in open combat. His amber fueled ability allows him to spawn a clone of himself to distract guards or teleport to it to escape, increase his awareness of the surroundings, and makes himself completely invisible to his enemies, which makes him even more stealthy.

Gray Fox (Metal Gear Solid)

The super soldier known for his obsession for battle and his ambition to be the only one who earn the highest rank in FOXHOUND. Armed with his reinforced exoskeleton, camouflage suit and the high frequency blade truly makes him a complete terrifying killer. He is a cold-blooded cyborg ninja with keen intellect, great physical combat and lethal skills goes by the name "Deepthroat", what else do you need to be a deadly assassin?

Thane Krios (Mass Effect)

If the other assassins are feared among people on earth, Thane Krios is the most feared assassin in the galaxy. This drell assassin is deeply spiritual, he prays for success before his assassination missions, after the missions, and also prays for his targets and asks for forgiveness. He is fast, adept in sniper rifles, sub machine guns, and has biotic capabilities. But he prefers to kill his targets up close utilizing a mixture of stealth, firearms, close range combat, and his biotic abilities.

Love the AC series so will have to go with Ezio on that one. Styx deserves points for the stealth + humor though, which Ezio lacks IMO :D

Fun post dude, thanks for sharing!

For me my favorite is from Dishonored, not Corvo, but Daud. But it seems like people likes Corvo more than Daud, so I put Corvo instead. And yeah, I think Styx sarcastic jokes and how he roll is awesome

You're welcome!

I only played the first Dishonor but if i remember correctly Daud is like a "bad guy" that's leading some assassins right? Been looking at dishonored 2 for some while now, gotta get to buying it, loved the first one and i am checking out the second one on gameplay videos like every day, hehe :)

Have you played the second one? Was it better then the first one? I see you get to choose a character this time, the girl one being all nimble and fast looked pretty fun (love to teleport around as a shadow assassin).

Yes, he is the villain in the game. I thought he was just another villain who will die horribly in the hand of the hero, but when I played the DLC I figured that Daud has a role as important as Corvo's in the story that nobody in that game will ever know.

I haven't played the second one, and it looks definitely better than the first, because we get to play 2 different characters, new supernatural powers, and the story line that unexpectedly related to the first one, the first game's villain. Oh I really need to play that

I vote for "Golgo 13" on NES. Remember him? He was an awesome assassin, or at least a good spy from retro gaming. Lol..

I think I remember that guy in that black suit but I didn't play the game. Nothing beats retro gaming lol. Another great assassin from old time gaming would be Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden haha

Ezio Auditore

He is like Altair but with personality

Jiří Kájínek! :))

I don't know who that is

Sombra ftw.

Nicee... I din't expect there will be someone to mention this haha
