The rich and deep universe of Warhammer merges with the recognized real-time strategy franchise Total War, in this first title developed by Creative Assembly that is part of a trilogy. Gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and magical powers storms gather on the battlefield with thousands of warriors to wage great tactical battles in real time.

Orcs, Goblins, Humans, Dwarves, Vampires, Legendary Heroes ... In the turn-based individual campaign, players will find that the Old World is a ruthless and treacherous place where war is endless and alliances are convenient. And is that each of the factions that make up the game has different goals and objectives to fight, but also different tactics and ways to face the campaign, a conflict that threatens to end the known world.

My opinion after playing

Warhammer is synonymous with humans, orcs, goblins, dwarves, vampires and a crucible of races and factions that compete on a board for the dominance of their world. That is the spirit that seeks to capture Creative Assembly and is certainly what it has achieved. At the start, we have four factions that we can choose from in Total War: Warhammer, a figure that may sound a bit short at the beginning but that responds precisely to the intention of the British study to offer a smaller number, although a greater differentiation between the different races of the I've seen in previous episodes that opted for the opposite: Huge numbers of sides to choose, but with little difference between them.

For example, the Dwarfs are those described by the title itself as the most recommended faction to begin with the initial challenge level, which is set for them in easy. The reason? It has to do with the fact that it is a well-balanced faction, with units resistant to magic and strong leadership, a lot of economic and commercial capacity and enormous possibilities in terms of technology. Your weakness? More than tolerable, and ideal for neophytes: expensive costs of recruitment and maintenance of troops and small limitations such as those of the absence of cavalry. All this, logically, very respectful of what is the faction within this universe.

Total War: Warhammer is the game that all Warhammer fans have been waiting for years. Deep, well finished, tremendously faithful to the license and with an innumerable amount of hours ahead to dedicate, either playing campaigns alone or against other players through the internet. The best thing is that it is not limited to content fans of Games Workshop miniatures, but also knows how to offer a fully enjoyable title for any strategy aficionado and, especially, Total War.

The formula is the same as always, but thanks to all the possibilities offered by this universe of fantasy, The Creative Assembly has been able to incorporate a good number of novelties (especially when it comes to combat) that make it a hilarious title of play and full of strategic possibilities, bringing freshness to a saga that seemed to have stalled over the years.

Of course, the four factions have seemed few and I have been left wanting to play with many of the most mythical Old World, so I do not think it was the best of ideas to include the Warriors of Chaos, one of the most iconic of the series, as part of a promotion to buy the game during the first week, since its free inclusion of output would have sat very well to the set. Commercial decisions aside, the truth is that this is a great game that any lover of strategy will appreciate and enjoy, and, in the end, that is what counts. Are you ready for war?
