in #gaming7 years ago

Hello crypto game fans! I’m Ciel and I’m bringing you your news updates for today!

Don’t forget I’m running the game jam over on my personal steemit! Build a game that incorporates crypto or blockchain in some way and submit it to me before January 20th! You could win some Steem, Smartcash, a CryptoKittie, and more!

Let’s get started!

=====================================================================

Cryptopunks has been seeing a large upswing in activity since the release of the stunningly popular CryptoKitties game. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Cryptopunks released 10,000 “almost ERC-20 tokens” for free for the public to trade amongst themselves. Currently punks range from anywhere to $50 USD to thousands of dollars in ETH with $362,000ish USD having been traded so far. The project has a discord equipped with a bot that will keep you updated with all the collection action and a GitHub where you can take a look at the tech specs.

It has been a whirlwind initial two weeks for the smash hit Ethereum kitty breeding game CryptoKitties. This week new cattributes such as manx, persian, belleblue, royalblue, wingtips, gerbil and more have been unlocked by the players and we saw the first Mistletoe kitty and Santa Claws. The studio behind the game, Axiom Zen, are expanding their team and the third-party website KittyExplorer, which has helped many a kitty fan track traits and stats, has been put up for sale. While the web interface has still been experiencing delays and glitches, the team has been hard at work to try and catch up with the game’s boom in popularity since its release. The mobile browser for Ethereum Toshi (who are not affiliated with Axiom Zen) has announced they can now support CryptoKitties.

Kitty fever has inspired a number of projects to spring up overnight, promising to expand and build on the concept of crypto games. One contender, CryptoPets, has been lightning fast in putting up a website, whitelist for sales, and pursuing a partnership with World Wildlife Fund to donate a percentage of their sales. Another, Hashpuppies, has release a roadmap towards releasing on NEO.

Voxelus, the folks who brought you the first VR marketplace run by a cryptocurrency, is undergoing a full rebrand of their company. They’re inviting community members to join their discord tomorrow December 13th at 14:30 GMT for a live Q&A with their CEO.

Decentraland, the virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain, is gearing up for their terraforming event, the Genesis City Auction, on December 15th. Those interested in participating in the auction will need to purchase MANA tokens from an exchange.

A CryptoZombies Ethereum Course has popped up which teaches users to code DApps by creating their own collectible game.

That's it for today! See you next time! :3

I'll give CryptoZombies a spin, it'll help me learn for your gaming competition ;)

I've been hearing some interesting things about Decentraland, especially this recent article related to Cryptokitties, which has some nice concept rendering:

Medium article

You going to get yourself an egg from CryptoPets ?
I contacted them to ask if they needed beta-testers or help of any kind.
I'm aiming to get myself a Platypus XD

Did you read this article? https://medium.com/@gmcmullen/do-you-really-own-your-cryptokitties-d2731d3491a9

I think it's interesting cause does that mean we can create our own art? What would it look like if we could dothat for cryptopunks or cryptopets?

Yeah, after what I've understood it's completely possible to create your own Web service displaying custom art and taking, for example, only a 5% fee instead of the 15% CK takes when you use their website (lf I remember correctly)

You know, I think I'm kinda okay with that lol.
