Expansion! - Fun, Gas-Operated Sweetness

For those that are fans of airsoft can get a lot of the realism of a firearm without the costs, and mostly required trip to the range. When it comes to airsoft, gas blowback rifles are your go-to for realism. They won’t come in as many forms as AEGs, but in my opinion, they’re much better to use and just have a good time with.

I think the main selling point of a GBB gun is the recoil. While you can get AEGs that offer some form of recoil, it just won’t beat that of a gas gun. There’s just something about rattling off a few rounds in your city back yard without much other thought than, “Did I hit my target?”. With a majority of GBBs you just fill the mag with gas (CO2, duster, propane, top, etc.) and ammo, slap in the mag, charge the gun, and fire to your heart’s content, or until your mag is empty, in which case it’d probably be the latter.

If you’re just starting in the airsoft realm, I wouldn’t recommend going the route of the GBB unless you’ve experience with real-steel use and maintenance. They’re fairly similar and will require a similar level of detail and nuance in order to keep them running reliably for extended amounts of time. But don’t worry too much, there’s always replacement parts floating around out there!

So, the take away here is if you’re down with airsoft, want a gun that’s very realistic in form and function, and aren’t intimidated by regular maintenance, then a gas blowback rifle or pistol would be great for you!
