May News Stories that Caught my Interest
There wasn't a whole lot that really got me excited that was announced this month, but there are still a few things that were interesting or at least are worth making note of.
New Atelier Announced -
We don't have much new information yet, but I've been a bit out of the Atelier series for a while now. After Peaking in the PS3 era with Atelier Ayesha, the game has been on a downward spiral ever since, with the 'Mysterious' series of games being pretty bad.
But with Atelier Lulua going back to Arland, the first trilogy of the Atelier games on the PS3, I am actually feeling a bit of that old charm again and am really enjoying it. So Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout has my hopes up that the series is going to be enjoyable to me again.
Several Visual Novels Getting Announced releases -
There isn't one game to bring up here, more of a pattern I have seen of more and more Visual Novel games getting official releases here in the west. I am not a fan of the genre, but I know a lot of people are, so it's nice to see more and more of these obscure games getting launches and making them more accessible to the world at large.
Death Stranding -
So, on one hand, this means nothing to me as I don't intend to purchase any more PS4 games due to their bizarre need to censor games, so this game wasn't something I was ever going to care about. On the other hand those original trailers were fucking weird, so I had to check this out.
And I am kind of sad I won't be getting this game, because I kind of want to be in on what looks like it's going to be a bit of a cluster fuck and trash fire. You are fighting against Homo Demons with a brief case, you are carrying around a fetus that can see the weird ghost creatures, and the trailer is crammed to the brim with imagery so lacking in subtlety I'm surprised I wasn't watching the trailer to a David Cage game.
Octopath on PC to include Denuvo -
I was honestly thinking I may pick this game up on PC again and play through it there, especially if there were some interesting mods people make for it, but of course Denuvo, a horrible anti-piracy piece of software is announced. I have included both a more balanced article, as well as just a long list of issues people have with it.
Needless to say this killed my interest in playing this game on PC, regardless of how fantastic of a game it ended up being on the Switch.
