I think exclusives are healthy for the industry, because their existence means that the companies compete for our attention with better exclusive contents. Thanks to that we can get excelent games more often. It is a shame that we can't have them all though.

That's not what I meant, they are not always, but the idea of having good ones, makes the companies to put more effort in those. That gets up the probability of a great game appearing. That doesn't mean that multiplatform games can't be great. There are examples like: doom, dark souls or bioshock infinite.
But the exclusives are meant to be the icing on the cake.
Yeah, until something goes wrong, or some other company makes a better game. That can happens.
