The new forces of Bad Hala and a barely living member of your team, the Guardians are in a penitent situation. A situation that is getting worse, making the episode better than its predecessor. How that is, you can read in Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy Episode 4 Review!

There are slowly starting to get some cracks in the trans galactic superhero team, consisting of Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot. In the final episode, a big decision had to be made which would lead to a split in the team. Now, like Peter Quill, you must be on the blister after your last choice.

Pride comes down?

Despite the last choice in episode three, revealing the destruction of the Eternity Forge or its true power, the end result will be the same: together with the other Guardians, you are forced by Hala to jump into the abyss and escape her so. Thus, episode four, 'Who Needs You' is starting to be alright.

After the jump comes the fall and wakes you up in a cave, where you get acquainted with a potential new member of the team: a stone-worming worm that adversely affects the group. Even about this little monster, the Guardians again fight well, after which the family of the worm attacks. It will be one of the few times in the episode that you take your weapons to defend yourself.

Tragic background

Defend yourself in a flashback, which is already becoming a standard in Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy. Each episode has now shown a preview of one of the main characters and this time Drax is in turn. The tragic story of losing his wife and child is not shown, but his daughter Kamaria is central to the flashback.

Indeed, she is training for an annual competition, so you should remember the Proving from Horizon: Zero Dawn. To really get involved, she has to jump in the deep car, literally. Whether it succeeds is yours, but the choices you make in this flashback are all-important for the further story and leave a big impression.

Development

'Who Needs You' still leaves a big impression, although it is very much a matter of story development. Hala and her army have been pushed back to the background, which makes the spotlight fully focused on our hero group. And in this group we also see the most important events. Rocket once again causes frustrations at Gamora, which then chooses her own way. Whether you're playing Rocket or Gamora, they both express their concerns about themselves and other team members, giving both a human face.

Here again, the mistakes come up where Telltale is more often: mouths that do not match when a text is said. It takes you a bit out of the atmosphere of 'Who Needs You' and that's a lot of pity.

Fortunately, there is a fantastic QTE in which Queen crashes with " Stone Cold Crazy " by your television. Unfortunately, the QTE does not work very well, you have to move too quickly with your cursor to do something. As a result, you die and replay a lot, something you often want to do, but not this way. We have not encountered such QTEs often in Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy, but this episode knew a few.

Typical humor

On the other hand, the typical humor that used to from the two films and the three previous episodes is now used to. Still, some conversations are enjoyable, like those with the worm. The crazy babe in your team already begins, if Drax wants to give the beast a name, after which you and Rocket can both provide a nice suggestion.

Nevertheless, the highlight of humor is around the end of the episode. The Guardians are stuck in a bigger worm and leader Peter Quill has to make the choice: either through the front or the back. This kind of humor is a sign of Guardians of the Galaxy and makes you laugh. Exactly what the series needed.

Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy Episode 4 Review - Who Needs You

Because Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy approaches the end and the fourth episode brings new elan in the series. The choices are now absolutely determinative, especially in the last ten minutes, and Telltale knows where she wants to go with Guardians. Well, the mouths and text are not even right and some QTEs do not work, but a cool action scene with Queen and that great humor easily save the episode. It is awaiting how the universe is involved in episode five.
