[Thinking While Gaming] Freedom vs Safety, Do Animals Don't Mind Living in Zoo?

Go Go Nippon is one of the games you'll either love or hate with passion, I love it because it has both Japanese and English text. But the girls are too generic, Makoto is perfect except some cute flaws, and the Akira is tusndere! It doesn't help that the protagonist is so stupid, oblivious and total japan fanboy with no personailty otherwise.

2015 DLC makes it better, and with 2016 DLC Go Go Nippon feels like an actual Visual Novel with more personality to both heroines and less stupid protagonist.

But lets stop bashing this Visual Novel. With 2016 expansion I started an achievement run. And one of things they did right is their deep questions to think about. Like this conversation for example while can be accessed through Akira's route in the main game. (or route A in 2015/2016 vers.)

Do you know... what people say? That they feel sorry for the fish in aquariums, and animals at zoos... crammed into these little spaces. But sometimes I wonder if that's really true... Thinking about it from the point of view of a fish or animal, why would you care about the size of the world outside?

Living in the wider world would mean a cruel struggle just to live another day, You might get eaten before you grow up... You'd live in constant fear of death out there. Sometimes I think it might be nicer for them to live in those tanks, where they don't have to worry about natural predators, or finding food of their own... Maybe that's another form of happiness.

And it's not as if the animals in zoos and aquraiums know what they're missing, right? If they don't know about it, the space they're in right now is the center of their world. Don't you think?

"The frog in the well, knows not the ocean."

As I read that, I thought, That's just cruel! Even though freedom comes with a cost, sometimes we prefer to live in constant fear of danger than to live in a small prison that we think it's all our world is about.

Narcissu, another VN I reviewed
is all about hating living in a prison like that.

But sometimes I think Akira's does have a point in her quoute above, I still disagree with it but what do you think?

Go Go Nippon is an edutainment that's high on Education side,
most of the game is about Japanese info dump but dialog like the quoted above make this game worth it.

By the way,
The original version they were so little but 2015/2016 expansions added so much to the game.
I have the game in my list if you want to buy it for crypto currencies.

Thanks, maybe I should make a full review of the game, or a post about Makoto.

I think I would massively disagree with her statement. Sure they, the new generations, might not know of their parent’s homelands - still means not that they like the area they live in. Animals in Zoos often feel cramped, get habbits from their free parents and often die younger than their expected age from all the stress from everything around them that they’re not used to. They’re as much a social creature as we humans are.

I'm closer to your opinion on that regard. There are many opinions on these but I believe all living things seek freedom!

Liberation to all animals!
