MSX Action Game Ninja Savior Ported to Nintendo Game Boy

in #games6 years ago

Over on Retro Gaming Magazine, I reviewed the MSX version of Ninja Savior. The reason I am bringing it up here is because we will soon see a version of Ninja Savior for the Nintendo Game Boy platform. Considering you can play Game Boy games on the Game Boy Color and the Game Boy Advance, that is a wide breadth of opportunity for fans of more recent mobile gaming gameplay.

Ninja Savior tells the story of the quiet and peaceful village of Usuki in Japan. One night, Usuki is attacked by extremely dangerous demons and monsters, wreaking havoc on the townsfolk. Your job is to rid the village of these invaders. One level at a time.

The way that Ninja Savior works is quite like jumping games on Android or iPhone. Your ninja slides down the wall of buildings and must leap back and forth before reaching the bottom of the buildings. At the bottom of the structures is a fire, no doubt set by the demons and other monsters.

Attacks on the creature at the top of the screen are accomplished by jumping and collecting the scrolls and other objects resting in the air between the buildings. There are lesser creatures waiting for you between the buildings as well – contact with them causes damage to your ninja.

While it sounds incredibly simple, Ninja Savior, at least on the MSX gaming computer, is a fun little time waster that can hold your attention longer than expected.

At the time of this writing there is only one sole screen shot of the Game Boy version of Ninja Savior. The fire at the bottom of the screen is missing but everything else is there. The big demon rests at the top of the screen while the lesser creatures move around the screen with each jump you make.

When this one releases I will cover it more and let you know if there are major differences versus the MSX version.

I just looked up some MSX screens looks cool. Arcade-puzzle-action.

On the MSX it is actually good looking. I already know a lot of that detail is going to be gone for the Nintendo Game Boy port. Some things just have to be sacrificed.
