All the professional streaming gamers master most of the aspects of Fortnite Battle Royale. Let's see what these skills are.

Basic skills

Protect yourself

To win at this game, you need to be the last survivor, so it is important to protect yourself against the other players.
This means that you need to manage your health and your "shield", to move in a not too predictable way so as not be an easy target, and stay behind obstacles such as trees or buildings when attacked.

Shoot accurately

If you are not very good at aiming your gun, you will never be a professional gamer.
Take myself as an example: I have played the game for many hours, but I have eliminated only one other player, probably someone even more clueless at shooting.

Collect weapons and ammunitions

To be able to fight, you need at least one weapon and munitions.

Manage your health and shield

During combat, you will be shot and your shield and health will decrease. You then need to increase those with potions, bandages and health kits, that you will find in various places.

Stay out of the storm

Always know where you are in relation to the storm. You need to move to the next safety zone before the storm caught up with you, otherwise your health will decrease rapidly and you will die.

Collect supplies to build structures

At the beginning of the game, when you are safe from other players, you should collect wood, bricks and/or metal by destroying trees, rocks and walls. This will allow you to build structures with walls, stairs, floors and ceilings to protect yourself against other players that attack you.

Know the map

Learn the geography of the island, that is the relative positions of the different towns.
And learn where the goodies are: ammunitions and treasure chest fulls of weapons, ammunitions and stuff: some of their locations are easy to find, while others are not so evident.

More advanced skills

There are many skills you need to learn to be an excellent Fortnite gamer.

Here are some of them, without details:

Learn how to build efficiently and quickly

Know the most efficient ways to "farm", that is to gather wood, bricks and metal

Know the area where you will find mushrooms to increase your shield and apples to increase your health

Learn the characteristics of all the weapons: range and damages inflicted

Communicate efficiently with your teammates

Know how to jump from the battle bus

Know how to use traps to eliminate your opponents

Know how to use grenades and explosives

Know how to use efficiently jump pads and bouncer pads

Know where the "rifts" are to make you fly

Learn how to drive a shopping cart and a golf cart

Know how to fight at close range, when you and your opponents are jumping

Learn when it is better to avoid a fight that you are almost sure to lose

As you can see, the list of skills you need to master is rather long. And I am sure there are more that I cannot recall at the moment.

However, being an excellent gamer is not sufficient to be a good streamer. You may win some competitions, but you need other skills to become a successful streamer. We will see those in the next post.
