Wow, gaming design is zoo interesting. From the looks of it you're on your way to something epic. i would like to be a character one day in a game!! Keep up the great work!!
yea. you just need a good 3d model that fits the overall theme of the game. and that model has to somehow represent you. if it's properly rigged it's not that hard. the artistic side is what i can't do at this point, which is why i never actually tried. maybe i will in the future.
I think that zoom out camera could realy help you with some big, but precision requiring jumps/drops. Also you could maybe try to make it so that forward jump is used to jump on small "pads" that you would jump over with regular jump.

The small jump/dive should be kept imo, I'm not sure what you are trying to do but it definitely increases the players options in mobility. If you are making an obstacle course, some obstacles could be hanging which would kill the player if he jumps too high.

i might change the rolling animation tho because i can't think of a way to fit it into the controller, environment, and the general concept of the game. but small jumps will definitely be there.
