RE: Building a new gamedev team

in #gamedev7 years ago

I hope the best for you and the team and i believe everything will work fine or at least be better than before :P
If you can try to make a game based on steemit platform, games like that have tremendous support from the community from what i have seen till now

Sort:

what is a game based on steemit platform tho ?

the whole concept is up to your imagination but to be engage with the platform it may require transaction via steem and sbd or to give as rewards steem and sbd there are lot of ways. Think of it in it's top form as a game that has a real time economy based on steem. But again the possibilities are endless, for example someone made pacman and based on our scores we get to earn a small % of steem but that was mostly for fun, he didn't earn something from that game but if you search it there a couple of initiates on steemit, i have even heard of an mmorpg based on the platform!

i could have an achievement system where the leaderboard is used to direct upvotes from the playerbase to the top players. you'd have to enter your steem account name and private posting key tho, which i think is a huge hassle for most people. eventually it's more like a bot to help you on your steem journey.

i don't know how you can do it but i can answer you to the hassle thing. from what i have seen and i too shared the shame view, others don't have an issue to user their name and posting key, they have done it for dtube, dlive, steepshot and other apps so 1 more wouldn't damage them

i see your point. i'm still thinking about how i'm gonna do it, or whether i'm gonna do it at all. what you're saying is for apps which is a different experience. i have yet to see a game where you have to press ctrl+tab to go back to windows and copy paste your private key. at that point you're probably better off creating a simple game or an app that runs in your browser. i think cryptokitties is a good example.

if i'm using unity and the core gameplay is arcade/action i won't do it.

if i'm making a game where the core gameplay is in social content and blockchains then yea, integrating steem would be perfect.

it's a game i was talking about, it may give you some ideas

yea i see what you're saying. we're actually now planning to have some integration with steem and/or blockchains. thanks for the suggestions.

thanks man. hey i've been thinking about that a lot. but the more i think about it, i'm leaning towards creating an app that supports steem rather than a game. i'm still thinking, but a game has too much user friction to be integrated with blockchains at this point (unless i come up with something really creative of course). but to make it simple it might as well be a straight up app.
