RE: [Game Development Tutorial: Engine Agnostic] - Free Tools and Free Assets

in #gamedev7 years ago (edited)

Hi dwinblood, nice write-up. It's a great collection of tools, sites and assets. Thank you for that. Currently I'm working with an awesome Opensource-Engine called Godot (https://godotengine.org/). It's an slim, crossplatform, 2d and 3d engine written in C++ with an python-like scripting language. Because it is opensource it can be extended with C++ as well. Perhaps it is of interesst for you and/or you would like to add it to your list. Cheers.

I checked out GODOT when it first came out. I have a lot of money and time invested in Unity at this point so I personally won't be switching engines unless the engine makes my jaw hit the ground and does everything I've already managed to get unity to do. :) I like the Opensource aspect, but so far that hasn't been too much of a big deal with Unity for my projects, hopefully that remains the case. There are also some things I like to use that are in C++ that don't work so well in C#, but I've learned to work around those things as well.
